DePhoMo – Bumming Me Out *edit*

profile for riverwolfe

Well, here we are into day 2 of DePhoMo and I’ve got my next picture(s) ready to roll. And, since it was asked, I’ll go ahead and answer.

What’s the coolest cache you’ve ever found? Or the most fun or unique? [That Jones Thing]

To be perfectly honest, they are all the coolest caches I have found! This is a great sport and just shame on me for not finding out about it long before now! But, there are a few memorable ones that stick out in my mind. Such as the 2 FTF’s (First To Find) that I have with one being about 30 miles from my home and the other was in Georgia and is 325.8 miles ATCF (As The Crow Flies) from my house. I can’t forget the first time I went to the top of this hill but didn’t find the cache…twice! But, honestly, all of them are the greatest.

The Pine Hill Cemetery was one of the caches that my friend and I went to.

A fenced in area with a couple of headstones.

Believe it or not, these are cairns and are graves.

A close up view of one of the cairns.

As we were walking towards the cache, I saw this and, again, was a little bummed out by it. You would think that someone, somewhere would take care of this area to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

A close-up look of the broken headstone.
This is what I think it says:

Mattie Franklin
Daughter of
Frank and Mattie
Kimmons
Born Aug 16, 1898 (could be 1888)
Died Aug 8, 1908
Beautiful Lovely

The first one of these type of cemeteries I’ve been to really got me down, but I was prepared for it this time as I had seen worse. Still though, it’s something to behold and remember.

Till Next Time,
Blessings!

As it turns out, I actually did the DePhoMo prompt today without knowing that “Something Old” was the prompt. How cool is that?
*end edit*

Blessings!

There’s just something special about old cemetaries.

I capture old cemeteries as well; yours looks very secluded and unique, maybe it’s how you shot it, but I like 😉 Nice set!

RYN: Makes sense to me. Feel free to check them out if you like, I am also doing the dephomo 08: I am set up in chapters, and those are in the non-fiction chapter (which made sense to me at least) I hope you don’t mind my adding you to my faves; another man with a vision for cemeteries is one I would like to read.

I love to photograph old cemetaries. I usually find myself taking along some tissue, because inevitably I’m going to find grave markers for babies that are just a few days old that will make me cry. I think the dates on the one above probably are only 7 days apart, instead of a year or 10.

Nice photos. I find old cemeteries interesting. Some headstones just break your heart.

I love old cemeteries. My favorite is beside the Texas Ranger Museum at Waco. It breaks my heart to see them in this condition.

she died so young 🙁
