An Absolutely Great Weekend

Yesterday was absolutely amazing. The fact that my son and I had a great time, just hanging out being together, made the day great.

I arrived at the truck stop closest to their house yesterday morning and, since it was still early, I decided to grab a nap and wait for Jason to call. I slept for about 40 minutes when he did call and he rushed his mom out the door to come to get me. About an hour later, thanks to traffic, I finally got to see my son.

He’s an amazing kid. Smart, funny, and full of himself…just like his dad. lol

From picking me up, we went to the nearest AT&T store and I bought him a cell phone and put it on my plan so I can reach him whenever or vice versa and it doesn’t cost me minutes. He got a really nice Samsung A737 in blue (his favorite color). Luckily, AT&T offers a new thing I am really glad to see called Smart Limits. That way, online, I can monitor his usage and control the times the phone is used. It was a really good idea.

From there, we went to Wal-Mart, the truck driver’s favorite truck stop, and I got Jason some new shoes, socks and a hat he liked while I got myself some new shoes and socks. After that, it was a quick run by a Post Office to mail off my mother’s Mother’s Day present and then to their place.

My ex and I talked a lot during the day yesterday and I discovered, somewhat to my pleasant surprise, that we actually can get along. However, after a few hours with her, I realized that I can only take her in small doses. Luckily, she had to work and left me with Jason at her place. Her boyfriend, James (holy crap, that’s a lot of J names), was there and he’s a pretty nice guy. He’s 40 years old and he’s not an obstacle between my son and me. Even when Jason and I went “fishing” at the local pond and extended the invitation to James to join us, he declined saying that he felt as if he would be intruding upon our time together. Seems like a pretty smart guy to me.

Unfortunately, Jason still hasn’t outgrown his tendency to get cold even when it’s warm out. When he was about 5 months old, my ex and I were attending one of those 10 month medical assistant schools together and had left the boys with a babysitter (well, we couldn’t just leave them at home alone). After school, we would head for the babysitter’s place, pick up the kids, and head home where I’d get a nap before working. One particular day, Jason (at about 5 months old) was cold and turning bluish not long before we got there. We took him to the children’s hospital in Memphis where they admitted him and we spent the better part of 3 or 4 days thinking that our son was going to die. We were being told that he had an abnormality in his heart and it was “L” shaped for some reason. Fortunately, there wasn’t a problem at all after that and he was released without us actually knowing what caused the problem. It seems this has followed him into his preteen and (soon-to-be) teenage years. Luckily, I’m a fat man that sweats in 60 degree weather and am warm to the touch. He sat next to me and I wrapped my arms around him to keep him warm. I really loved that.

Pictures will be forthcoming but not is this particular entry as I’m about 2 hours south of Dallas now and I’m tired from having been up late last night and not sleeping well. So, you know what that means, don’t you?

That’s right my friends. It’s nap time.

Till Next Time,
Blessings!

My oldest son was actually allergic to the cold when he was younger. I took him to the doctor and the doctor said this is an actual allergy!

Yeah, When I was making the entry, I thought about how annoying it is to pop into an entry and be assaulted by music. It is also just there in case you find something interesting, or want to sample a few different ones.
