Fading
At my mother’s last doctor visit, the doc said she would be surprised if mom lasted through the summer. She was good all winter which, in the past, has been tough for her. Now I am seeing her fading a little each day.
First it was a little mental fading. Just not quite as clear minded as in the past.
Now it is sleeping in a dead sleep even during the day.
The doc said each time she sleeps, she gets close to death as her system slows so much. Then when she wakes, she is actually coming back from the brink. Now that is happening during her naps. Her naps are so deep, she struggles to wake up.
I wonder why she does not ‘pass’ since she says she is ready. I think it is because we all come every day to vist. We are all going to be away over the Memorial Day weekend. This means she will not have as many visitors. She will spend more time in bed.
This will be the test. If she passes while we are away, I know she willed it.
We all love her so much. But it is time.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted” May she go in peace without pain. Be well.

The human body is such an amazing thing. I understand how difficult it is, my Mother did the same thing. She was admitted to hospital, she waited out the whole week for everyone to visit her [she was pretty much comatose though] and when everyone had come to say their goodbyes, she passed quietly with my Dad, sister and myself sitting beside her. It was pretty incredible, and so very like her. <br> Many thoughts going your way. *hugs*

This is tough for you to go through but my goodness she’s done well to get to 100! And it can’t be much fun to live at that age – my mum is 90 and still going strong as well but I think there are days she’d quite like to shuffle off this mortal coil quite happily! I hope if she does go that weekend it will be peaceful and she won’t know anything.

It is sad and it is hard!!! Hope she can just go to sleep, that is the best way in my opinion.

I lost my mother late last year. She died peacefully in her sleep and I take comfort in that. My warmest wishes to you all; even though you know it’s time, it is such a hard thing to go through.

Greywolf said it best. What a blessing if there is no pain.
