More Answers
I had a few more questions come up, so here are some more answers!
When you started roller derby, were you good on skates?
Most definitely not. I was really terrible.
And to be very truthful, I’m still one of the weakest skates in the whole league.
But that’s sort of what keeps me going, I’m keeping at it, and I’m getting better, just very slowly.
And while I’m trying my best to get better, I almost don’t really care. I just love being part of something.
Where else do you want to travel?
Our original travel plans involved Asia and South America in 9 months.
But after deciding 9 months was too long for both of us to be away, and not enough time to see 2 continents, and it requiring an unrealistic amount of money to save in 2 years, we’ve decided to just go for 5 or 6 months instead and just see Asia.
So, the Asia itinerary for now is:
Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, South Korea and Japan.
This is all subject to change when we actually come to planning our trip, but that’s what we’ve agreed on so far.
The Galapagos Islands, Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Cuba, Mexico and Belize are all going to have to wait until later in life I guess. But that’s ok- they’re not going anywhere.
What is your dream job? A job that if it was offered to you tomorrow morning, you would take in a heart beat and not even think about accepting the job or not.
I’d be a property developer.
I love old-falling-apart things.
And I love organising things.
And I love the sense of feeling accomplishment after a job well done.
All the above reasons lead me to believe that buying old houses and doing them up and selling them on for a profit would be a job I’d really enjoy!
All that, and I love property!
Plus, I hate people.. I’m not a social person. Therefor my ideal job would also be something where I didn’t have to deal with customers and I didn’t have to work with colleagues and where I’m my own boss.
If you do it right, the builders, plumbers, electricians, plasterers and painters are doing all the work. I’d just have to manage them all.
If only someone could give me £150 000 so I could buy my first dilapidated flat!
If you could redo any part of your life what would it be and why?
Without a doubt it would be my actions at the beginning of my relationship with Ben.
Why? Because I hurt him and I hurt Bonsai.
All has been forgiven and forgotten now, but I’d still without a doubt take it all back if I could.
What made you get into roller derby?
I have a friend in America called Cece. We worked at camp together for many summers and we’ve been friends for 10 years. She started playing roller derby and after about 6 months she sent me an email telling me about it and said that she thought I’d really like it and I should look into it.
And I did! I looked on Facebook for a roller derby league in Bristol and 2 weeks later I went off to my very first lesson (feeling rather terrified). It has quite literally changed my life, so I haven’t looked back since.
What is your favourite colour?
GREEN! 😀
I wear a lot of green
What do you like about yourself?
That’s a really hard question. I have no idea.
I’d like to think I’m a loyal friend.
I can’t think of much else.
Do you have a five year plan?
Well, yes, but it seems to change all the time!
My plan has always involved travelling before starting a family, but the travel plans seem to be pushed further and further away because of money. And now that we’ve bought a house it’s going to have to wait even longer!
The interest rate on the mortgage we’ve applied for comes down by a full £200 a month after 2 years, plus Ben’s just started his new job and he needs to put a few years in before he’d be allowed to apply for any sort of extended unpaid leave.
SO, at the moment we’re definitely going to have to keep working (and saving!) for the next 2 years at least.
Then we’ll both take 6 months off work and go off and explore the world. We’ll have to wait until November though because I can only take extended leave over the winter.
When we get back from our travels it’ll be about April in 2015 and I’ll be 31.
32
ish is (in my opinion) a perfect age to have your first baby, so I’d like to say we’d maybe start planning to start a family, but right now that thought terrifies me. I’m not sure I’m ever going to feel ready to let go of my youth and have a baby, but if I reach 33 and still feel that way I don’t think I’m going to have much of a choice. My biological clock isn’t going to stop ticking just because I’m still 16 in my head.
Are you a photographer?
No. I like taking photographs, but I’m not a photographer.
If you won a million pounds whats the craziest thing you would do with it?
I think I’ve pretty much answered this question in my previous answers.
I’d go travelling, see the world, pay off my debts, pay off our house, buy a house in South Africa, and with the balance start property developing!
None of these things are crazy, but I guess that’s because I’m quite a sensible person.
When do you think you’ll get married?
I have no desire to get married. A few people I’ve said this to have immediately told me that this means that Ben’s not the right person for me and when I meet "the one" I’ll WANT to get married.
You can all fuck off.
How dare people express opinions like that?
I want to be with Ben forever. I know this much.
I also know Ben wants to be with me forever. He tells me all the time.
All this aside, I probably will get married one day. I know Ben wants to.
But right now, buying a house and saving for travelling is much higher on the priority list than paying for a wedding.
And before anyone says "you don’t need to have a wedding to get married" (and I’ll want to punch them in the face).. if I’m going to get married, then I’m sure as hell having a wedding.
Crap! I just realized I had started to ask questions in a note about a week ago, but got distracted (it was on my cell phone). One quick question: where else do you want to travel?

I 100% completely agree with every aspect of the answer to the last question. I also had someone tell me once that I must not love John because I don’t want to have a joint checking account with him. Um. WHAT???
