Okay – I need some help!

If anyone out there could tell me what film these lyrics come from, I would be very grateful. I know I have heard them, but I don’t know where.

"He can’t even run his own life, be damned if he’ll run mine"

They are from a song called Sunshine, and I know they feature in the 7th episode of "The Newsroom" (entitled "5/1") because that was the second place I heard them, and the place that made me realise I had heard them somewhere else.

I know it is a long shot – you don’t know what movies I’ve seen, and it might be that it is not actually a movie, but a TV show (one of the millions).

But it turns out that – while the internet is the source of all wisdom and you can usually find out anything you want there – searching for a set of lyrics on the internet is not as easy as you think. Mostly because – since I don’t know what TV show or movie I have seen it in – I keep getting directed to lyrics sites.

Update

Because I have the most wonderful and gloriously brilliant girlfriend in the world, my question has been answered.

It turns out that "Sunshine" (a cover version) appears on the Friends soundtrack.

Which I listened to quite a lot about six or seven years ago, but haven’t listened to in a little while.

Which is why I know the song, and why I know the lyrics "He can’t even run his own life" but didn’t have a clue where it was from. And also why I thought it had to be a TV show or movie.

My girlfriend took about twenty minutes to find this out, and then let me know.

So now I can just work on the million other things stuck in my head (most notably how to rescue a young man from being brutally interrogated by prison guards and save a group of other men at the same time).
