Unforgivable
While I think that this "theme of the week" is somewhat overly dramatic and excessive, I do have an answer to it. And – quite honestly – it didn’t take that long to realise what it was.
While I did write the above originally, I admit it was a tad petty, and that I should not bitch about things when I am not doing anything to change them 🙂
Someone once said that treason is a matter of dates, and – when you are talking about abstract concepts such as governments and countries – that is pretty much the case.
One day you are in prison for terrorism, the next you are President. One day you are wanted for throwing tea in the harbour, the next you are writing "all men are created equal" (while keeping slaves) and being hailed as the father of a nation.
But when you come to more concrete ideas – friends, family, loved ones – then it is not a matter of date, or even a matter of perspective.
Betraying someone you promised to love is utterly unforgivable, no matter what excuses you might come up with.
And while I do believe in the power of forgiveness – that, if you try hard enough, there is almost nothing you can not get past and get over – it is "almost" that is the most important word in the sentence. Because there are some things that are, quite simply, unforgivable.
So if my partner (I am deliberately not using the word girlfriend, because I don’t even want to associate my beautiful, wonderful lady with the idea of betrayal and deception) were cheating on me with my best friend and I only found out when they were in an accident, which one would I chose to save?
I would have to say – neither.
You have some really good points there

Thanks for chiming in. 🙂 I put this on the theme of the week because I heard it asked in a podcast that generated some interesting replies from it’s listeners. And since no one is suggesting themes of a the week, I’m literally running out of ideas. lol 😉 Eric

I applaud you… That was my first and only answer to the question. Cheers to that.

That’s the same answer that I had.

RYN: No offense was taken at all. I was just giving information. Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, most of them have been done in one form or another. If you go this this entry in a thread on the OD Boards, I posted a list of all past themes. http://boards.opendiary.com/fb.asp?m=273676 Eric

I came up with the same answer too! I’d simply have to say Karma royally sucks and walk away.
