Poem to Duke

I wrote this in the middle of the night a few nights ago while I was at work.  He’s my very special heart dog and there will never be another one like him.  I keep him in my heart at all times.

Duke
I’d give my life for you if I could
because without you, my life is no good
You’re getting older every day
It breaks my heart to see all that gray.

The time we have left is most dear to me
So I know I shouldn’t spend it with worry.
I should cherish evey moment we have together
Just remember, I’ll love you forever.

You get so sad when I have to leave
Those flat ears and sad eyes make me want to stay
I know you can’t understand my going away
But even when I’m gone, you see,
my heart is with you eternally

There will be no permanent goodbyes
for you’ll be in my heart at all times
I’d give my life for you if I could
because without you, my life is no good

There’s a great film site where you can watch super old commercials, cartoons and movies.  It’s called http://www.watchfilms.com   I watched The Inner Sanctum one night.  It was pretty good.  I think I recall it being made in 1948.  Check out some of those commercials.  They are hilarious!  Of course I also had to watch the Three Stooges.  Have fun.
