shining like the cresent moon

song: fire – artist: noah gundersen

I think this is my thing right now. This "Partake of this song/album I am ALL ABOUT right now!" as the start of an entry thing. There are other videos/recordings of this song with better sound quality (like this one), but this video a.) has a gorgeous shot of a venue* I am totally digging at the beginning and b.) I love hearing (and seeing) his sister Abby. I simply find her awesome. (She is also awesome here [my introduction to the excellence that is the Gundersen family] and here.)

I’m going to start with the footnote from above. It may be what makes up the entirety of the entry. We’ll see how this goes.

*Lately I find I’m crushing on the Pacific Northwest (again). It seems to combine my favorite things about California (the ocean and the mountains) and upstate New York (topography that is the opposite of being scientifically proven to be flatter than a pancake, a great hike not taking much more effort than stepping out the door and lovely foliage the whole year through).

While the Pacific Northwest has been creeping into my visual media consumption primarily via showcasings of Portland, Oregon as of late, I find it charming as a whole. You know, without having made it much further West there than Spokane, Washington, unless a layover at SeaTac airport counts. (It probably doesn’t.)

Which is to say, I’m utterly smitten with my idea of it right now. The scenery makes my heart sing and how I perceive it from a distance is quite favorable. Not having experienced it, firsthand, I couldn’t say if it would hold up under that scrutiny – or, rather, whether my experience would match my preconceived perception.

But even then, there is something so very wonderful about those moments where you’re knee-deep in the realization that this place that may not fit you, does fit somebody. That there are people who find this so utterly home that they almost love it enough for the both of you. Almost.

it’s interesting what makes a place “home” to some, but not to others.

ryn: I was going to note about her just to you here, but decided to post for all. Not that anyone else listened I think! Ha! Anyway, she does some great Tom waits covers too. I meant to leave you a note the other day re Milo Greene, hadn’t heard of them, and love them. Great to be introduced to new music. Hope you’re well. 🙂

It’s definitely very pretty there! But different strokes for sure – I can never do California or Upstate for too long, but I think they’re both beautiful in their own way. There is a place and a time for everyone I think, the trick is to find the place that makes you happy! ryn – Nail polish is essie midnight cami. (I’m not a mani/pedi person but had a groupon deal…I like the polishthough, still on my toes.) And the lashes…mine are nice normally (my brother even has the same ones, ha) but am wearing this mascara in the photos: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=167031&catid=183541&aid=338666&aparam=167031
