I’ve wanted this for so long [CoA 13]
song: amazing – artist: one eskimo
Saturday (the 2nd), I had decided, was going to be the day I got my closet and dresser sorted and rearranged. You see, I’d had to start digging around both with greater regularity for my warmer weather wearables. It was time to get the full-on seasonal switch up done.
I’d been on the fence for a little while. We’d recently had a cool snap with another predicted for Monday. Last year, around this time, I had some garden wisdom that had originated with a farmer, who has spent many a year in Kansas, passed along to me: if you want anything to grow, without threat of a frost, wait until May to plant it. While I do not garden, it tells me the weather has potential to be all, "But I don’t wanna be warm yet!" until then.
My boots, they sat in my closet. My boots, the footwear that can often make its debut in the fall. That spares me from having to wear pants for awhile. That I love for this, but dislike for its representation of weather that forces me into clothing and footwear I’d rather not be in for so many months. My boots. Saturday, they got packed away until the next autumn season. I AM SO GIDDY!
Really. I am. While the packing away of my boots means I get to pull out so many open toed heels and an abundance of thongs (flip flops), which are some of my favorite shoes. The thing I was most excited about was that I was PACKING UP MY BOOTS UNTIL IT GETS SEASONALLY-APPROPRIATE COLD AGAIN!!!!
Sure, I still have easy access to my over-the-knee socks and mary janes should the spring decide it’s having a goth day or something. But the packing away of the boots is one of my favorite harbingers of spring. And its time has arrived! And the world seems just a little brighter now.
[what the "CoA" bit is about]
woohoo! I don’t think we’re quite there yet here, but I did switch from wintercoat to trenchcoat the past few days!

I’ve definitely got at least another month until I make the great switchover, but it’s always THE moment when it feels like warm weather’s officially here.

i love that you call them thongs! it seems that boots represent the coming and end of two seasons; boots are amazingly versatile footwear. i love them for their leg warming ability at the beginning of autumn when it is cooling but not cold, and i am not yet ready to give up my dresses and their wet foot preventing place in the spring when it always seems to rain stopping the use of thongs

Here we wait until after the May long weekend, which is the third weekend. And even then it`s not a guarantee that we won`t get snow; we usually do on May long weekend. I love hearing about spring arriving in other, more southern, locations though, it helps remind me that it is coming, eventually.

I was just about ready to put my boots and winter jackets away after the beautiful weekend we ad when I looked at the weather forecast for this week. Terrible, even some ground frost, hate it. Love the bright evenings though! 😉
