In response to: Care to share what gave you happiness last weekend?
I was headed into a restaurant that had two sets of entry doors, creating a small lobby with benches along the sides to accommodate people enduring the weekend rush and waiting for a table. I’d come through the first set of doors and was making my way to the second set. There were two little girls, both probably around a year-and-a-half old, standing directly in front of the second set, hanging out and playing. Just as I got up to them, they both spontaneously reached out and hugged each other. The lobby, of course, erupted into a chorus of "awww!" A thoroughly sweet moment, to be sure. But what made it even better was that they’d just met in the lobby while both of their families were waiting to be seated.
I find those moments bearers of such unabashed bliss. They stick around better than a breakfast of oatmeal on a cold winter morning.

I saw that you’d posted and I secretly hoped you’d note my entry. thank you so much <3 I had an uneventful weekend but your story reminds me of one that my ex once told me. he was in a store that had one of those CD displays, where you can press a button and sample different songs that will play over a speaker, and there were two toddlers listening to it.

they were dressed for winter, in those big puffy coats that make your arms stick out from your sides, and they would dance around and giggle until the song stopped. then one of them would press the button again, and they would have a laughing fit and dance around and stomp their little toddler feet all over again. I wasn’t there but I liked the story, and the way he told it 🙂

awww cute i saw two little girls at school hug with unashamed love for each other, touching each other without embarrassment or awkwardness and it made me smile, and wish for those days.
