Company Coming

Last month a friend emailed me to ask if she could spend the night because she was planning to go to a training in town to the south of us. Of course I said yes…and then I looked at my house.

It was in such a state due to my husband’s method of decluttering…I felt claustrophobic. Boxes everywhere. Nothing where I wanted it to be. Not mention that Asher thinks he owns this place and his toys and stuff are everywhere.

So we dove in Thursday night. We did A LOT last evening. And we were both up and at it at 6:00AM this morning.

We got the guest room done first. I love it. I just need to dust a shelf of bunnie gegaws and put up a clock…Pooh of course. The quilt and pillow shams are so sweet. I put a bowl with cinnamon pine cones–pleasant but not overpowering.

Last night I also got the living room very close to the way I want it. Right now there are two over-sized chairs with ottomans facing the non-working fireplace, and wing back chair and table by the window. There’s room to move and breathe. Soon we’ll add a wall of book shelves. Makes me very happy.

The reason I’m typing is that we’ve been working on the kitchen. I did a deep clean on the fronts of the base cabinets and front of the fridge. It’s so hard to keep them clean since they’re painted a light tanish color and it is no match for Nelson when he gets home from working in graphite…nothing in the house is. It’s very discouraging to clean and then see it black and fingerprinted as soon as he gets home. But I sure love it cleaned.

Teasingly I asked if should paint the cupboards brown and buy black furniture…well, sort of teasingly…

As I was saying, I’m taking a break because I was getting light headed from the cleaner and my eyes were burning. I’m going to take the dogs out and then it’s onto the bathroom. Yehaw.

I love having company. It’s always good to see a friend and nothing beats a clean house…especially when the Chief of Cleaners (aka Nelson, hubby extraordinaire).

LOL. Nelson just said, “We should have company more often.”

I’m laughing so hard, I’m about to pee. Good thing I haven’t cleaned in there yet.

Have a shiny day, free of grease, grime, and fingerprints!

PS: Magic erase cleaners are amazing!

I sure could use some workers like you two to clean up my house! I just never seem to have the energy to do it. Love a clean house, though 🙂 Have fun with your company.

There is nothing like company to produce a clean house. If only it would stay that way!

Send Nelson over. I’m happy for you.

My house got a dose of cleaning when I thought my son and grands were going to be here on Friday so since I can see the top of my dining room table I am having my Sunday go to lunch ladies over for lunch on Sunday.

We SO need to spend like an entire WEEK at home doing nothing but cleaning and decluttering!
