D-Day

Today is my sister’s due date. Although she most likely is not going to actually give birth today, I’m so excited. I can’t wait to know if I have a niece or a nephew, I can’t wait to be an aunt! I really wish I could be there for it, but of course I’m stuck down here. She also said her and her husband want the baby all to themselves before they have visitors all over the place. I’m ecstatic. I can’t wait. I can’t even imagine how my sister feels right now!

In other news: My mentor gave me the ok to send out my paper to the other co-authors. Which I guess means I have written satisfactorily enough or my ideas are at least in order. Whatever. I’m just glad it’s off my back at this point. Time start writing manuscript #2 of the summer. Hopefully it won’t be such an agonizing process.

I’m also finalizing my "thoughts" for my comprehensive exam. Can’t wait for that. Not.

preemptive congratulations on being an aunt and finishing your manuscript! you’ll get to use this stuff for your dissertation, right? i also have another manuscript to write this month, even though i’m no longer officially with my lab anymore. my advisor is holding my future recommendations from him hostage. 🙁

i probably won’t get another publication out of it because it’s a dumb idea for a paper and is literally just some run-off data that we were putting in the supplement of our other manuscript that my advisor was like “hey, lets make a separate paper out of this piece of data!”, but whatever.

ugh, that’s how my lab is. they do tons of experiments just for the sake of doing the experiment and at the end they take the more interesting 10% of the data and cobble it into a paper. i spent most of my time getting high and browsing literature and only did an experiment if i knew it would be useful. i appeared about as productive as everyone else who worked constantly. planning ftw.
