Yes, yes, worst updater ever.

Now that my semester is finally over, I can do an update. Aren’t you all just SO excited?! (Although, as usual, I’m just procrastinating on writing my damn manuscript)

So, after much drama, Greg is officially a USC student. Yay! He’s very happy and so am I — at least our relationship isn’t doomed because of distance. Actually, things have been going miraculously well between us and I couldn’t be happier (knock on wood).

Thanksgiving was great. It was so good to be home and surrounded by my insane [but lovable] family. My family really liked Greg — my sister said that he made a really good impression with everyone and that everyone could see how much he cared for me and that he took care of me. He said that he had a really great time and felt really welcome by everyone. I’m so happy. I was more than a little nervous that being around my entire family for 5 days would be a little overwhelming for him. But he really seemed to enjoy himself and everyone seemed to enjoy him.

I had my first committee meeting last week. It went pretty well, which was nice. For all intensive purposes, I’m ‘qualified’ for my PhD. I just have to give my presentation, which may not be for a while because apparently there are no presentation spots available this spring. I pretty much got the ok to do my comprehensive exams over the summer, so I’m several steps closer to the end. However, I do still have a lot of course work to do. As in, I’ll be taking 5 classes next semester. Kill me. Taking three this semester was almost the death of me. Oh yeah, and they thought it would be a really great idea for me to write grant this semester, too. Awesome.

I’ve been majorly slacking in the dieting and exercising arena. More so in the dieting arena. I finally started going to the gym/doing yoga again last week. But things like holiday parties sure make it hard to watch what you eat. I told Greg I’m never eating again this morning. We’ll see how that goes. I’m already thinking about ordering Jimmy John’s.

I can’t believe I’ll be going home for Christmas next week. Where the hell did the last month of my life go? Also, I really need to finish Christmas shopping.
