California so far!

So I arrived in San Diego yesterday afternoon and it was surprisingly not so hot! maybe near 70? I was wearing a tank top underneath a button down shirt with a cool vest over it, jeans, and my leather boots, and I thought I would most likely have to change into a tank and shorts when arriving at the airport, but nope! So I was a bit dissapointed thinking that the weather would be like that the entire time I was there. My sister picked me up, and I was STARVING so she took me to a little burger joint called In and Out! Supposedly they are everywhere and are known to make terrific burgers! I was guessing so because the ONLY thing on the menu was burgers and that was it! 4 different choices! Haha. It was my first time there and I had to agree that the burger was SO GOOD. I guess the meat is fresh, never frozen.

After that we headed over to her place which is in a cute gated apartment complex! Their friend Micah moved in with them and so a lot of his boxes are still around, also some from when rachel and kimo moved in, but other than that they have kept it pretty neat and clean! I love their new furniture too! Altogether their place is cute and comfy looking. They even have access to a pool, hot tub, and fitness center!

The cats greeted us as soon as we got in and I think Neko remembered me right away because he was meowing at me and following me like crazy! Then I got to meet yuki! She has to be kept in her pen while nobody is home so that she behaves. She is still a puppy but boy is she HUGE! Rachel was right when she said that Yuki is a lot less obedient then Misha was lol, but that is just part of her spunk!

After showering and getting dressed i went with rachel to get her hair cut and then to the store because i needed to pick up a couple things. Soon our stomaches were starting to growl so rachel called home to see is micah was there so we could ask him if he wanted to come out to eat with us. he was home and his little brother nathan was with him! we said it was perfectly fine to bring him along as well!

So we arrive at her place to pick them up and I introduce myself. Then I asked Nathan how old he was and Micah said "He’s 11, he’s deaf he can’t hear you. " 

Oh!

I was so surprised because nathan seemed like he could hear us. Turns out he can read lips pretty well and he also has a little micro computer inserted in his head that helps him to actually hear! Isn’t that amazing!?

Micah is this really tall guy with tattoos all over and he looks a bit like a combination of travis barker and that guy from the first step up movie. at first glance he looks a bit intimidating, but he’s very friendly!

Any way, after we ate, we went home and decided to go into the hot tub! there we just talked and chilled and had a bit of a splash war, since nathan started it. lol it was nice!

Rachel and I didn’t end up going to bed until amost 4 in the morning because we were watching audrey hepburn movies. there was this one we had never seen before called green mansions and IT …WAS … TERRIBLE! I mean it really made me sad because I love Audrey Hepburn, but it was such a bad movie and she did horrible in it!

I am just going to think of that as her one fluke. Every actor usually has at least one movie that went terribly wrong I think.

Today we had plans to walk around down town oceanside and go the piere! It was even warmer too, which made me very happy! Rachel and I dressed up really cute. She had on this cute blue dress with birds on it from anthropologie and i put on a skirt with a floral pettern that is very much like the background of my diary, and a read cutt off sleeved tank with a ruffled collar. It made me so happy to wear my summer clothes now when I will have to wait a couple months to wear them in WA.

We parked the car and headed out for sushi first. Then walked around the down town to look at boutiques. Oceanside is just so charming! It’s this fairly small, surfer town right on the beach where everyone walks around in their bikinis! A lot of the buildings are spanish style too, which makes you emagine you could be somewhere in mexico!

I ended up buying a wide brimmed hat and shoes and Rachel got a very cute dress! We got a couple other things, but that was the majority of it.

After an hour or so of walking the town we went to the piere. It was pretty much the largest half cement, half wooden dock I have ever seen! It goes far out into the beautiful ocean and at the very end is a restaurant called Rubys. All along the piere people are riding their bikes, taking pictures, and fishing off the side! Rachel got out my camcorder so that we could record a bit of this grand experience when suddenly we spotted it. A huge PELICAN! You know the pelican in finding nemo? Well they totally made it look smaller compared to the dentist because those birds are HUGE. This one seemed to jumping up and attacking a man who was fishing because he had been feeding it and it thought he had more food! 

I HAD TO GET CLOSE TO IT.

So I tell my sister to get the camera rolling and she is just shaking her head at me. I got closer and closer and soon I was a foot away from this beautiful enormous bird! I looked at it admiring it and it turned it’s head at me eyeing me. I wanted to pet it, but was scared that it would take my hand off. Then I thought, "Hey, you only live once!" So I reached out slowly while speaking sweetly to the Pelican and I PETTED IT! TWICE! It seemed to know that I meant no harm and did not try to move away at all! That was just enthralling for me! It made my entire day! 😀

People were looking at me like I was crazy lol and even Micah said when we got home "There’s no way you could make me get close to one of those nasty birds!"

I like to think that I have a special way with wild birds because I always have great experiences with them. Well, tomorrow we head out to Anaheim for 2 days! Goodnight diary!
