entry number two, Newspaper?

I got a phone call today from The Kitsap Sun ( a newspaper for the kitsap peninsula) telling me that Cindy Alvarez ( my friend Liz’s mom ) had called them and notified them that I was in the Twilight movie and they had some questions for me! I was very surprised, shocked, and soooo unprepared. I was holding the phone with my cheek because I was getting my nails done at the moment and my mom was going on and on about something. 

Of course I said "sure!" and so Chris (the ladys name) asked me how I knew Cindy Alvarez, how I ended up being an extra and stand in for the film, what the difference was between a stand in and an extra, what else I was doing for my acting career, how long i’d been persueing acting, what my future plans were, etc….

During this phone call my mother was writing down notes and holding them up to me to read, talking in my ear saying "tell her this! oh! don’t forget to tell her that!" and going on and on about making sure i would tell them i had a photo for them….GOOD GRIEF!

Because of her I sometimes had to stop and say "excuse me" or "pardon?" because I couldn’t hear what she was saying over the voice of my mother! Then it was hard to think with another persons yacking in my head! I completely blanked on the name of one of the towns twilight was flimed in and the name of the big acting conference I attended in LA! Little did my mom know, but Chris had already asked me for a photo and I had written down three e-mails she gave me to send it to. I tried making a face at my mom and holding up my finger to make her be quiet but she kept on and on thinking that I wasn’t going to listen to her, but there was no way I was going to stop talking to chris in order to answer my mom! That would be so unprofessional!

Finally after I thanked Chris for her interest and hung up the phone, my mom could see how infuriated I was with her, and I really let  her have it…..I lectured her, telling her that I knew what I was doing! I then picked up the paper to show her the e-mails I wrote down saying "SHE DID ASK FOR MY PHOTO OK?" my mom said …."oh"

Then I told her that she needed to trust me and support me, but it did not help that in the middle of an important conversation she was trying to put words in my mouth and talk talk talk at me, making it so hard to focus on what I wanted to say! She deeply apologized and I apologized too for being so angry. At least Chris had asked me to call her back if there was anything else I wanted to add.  So, as soon as I settled my thoughts, and some of the things I wanted to mention came back to me, I called her back up and gave her the new tidbits whch she was very thankful for.

It is only a small article with my picture, but any type of publicity is something! You never know what starts a chain, so I want to treat any opportunity no matter how big or small, as highly important.

I guess the story is being run on Thursday! I can’t wait to see it! 😀 Thank you so much Cindy! It pays to have such great people who support you in your life 🙂
