pics from my adventure!

ok, so here are some pictures from the very first day! i have many more pictures but they have yet to be developed and scanned back home! so this is all i have for now!

this is the bridge we cross every day on our way to sela (where the dig site is at) look at that trench! at one time, a river ran through it abundance with fish.

this is the same trench that the bridge goes over, but from another view! you see how that used to be  a riverbed?

this is a dessert lilly that grows in the area around our site

this is what our site looked like before we even stepped foot on it. this is where they worked last summer and you can see that is has gotten to be very overgrown in the year that has passed. it now looks completely different and i will have pictures of that in a few weeks!

here is a closer look at part of the site. the piece of wood is covering a unit that has mammoth bones sticking out of the side. right next to it we now have my unit and another groups unit to uncover the other half of the bones. we also took out all the weeds, made stairs, and cleaned everything up. below (see how the hill is slanting down) where you cant see, is our resting/lunch area that is covered by a tarp. so yea, this is the place where we dig all day in the dirt and silt uner 100 degree weather most of the time!
