Dumb little song
I tend to write music that I never intend to really record or do anything with…and oddly enough I write love songs after I break up with people. It’s kind of my way of getting closure because I damn well know that closure doesn’t come any other way for me….I guess I should say I write the ‘fuck you’ songs first that spell out difficulties in the relationship like ‘Band aid’ and ‘Skinny Bones’. Then I go on to songs like ‘Comedian’ that make me remember the fonder parts of things…kind of idealized in a way, most the time stretching into what I would’ve liked the relationship to go like. I have tons of songs that I’ve never recorded for multiple reasons and the songs I did record were what I wrote in that two-ish month period that I liked. Mainly I don’t know which direction I’d like to go with music but more than that I feel very vulnerable with music that means a LOT to me. Surface level songs like I wrote today don’t bother me to put out or play and I’ve pretty much stuck to recording those…I guess the ‘fuck you’ songs are fairly intimate but those make me feel better once they’re recorded, even if not finished, so I don’t care.
Sumwheretime
I fled to the woods and I played in the heather,
Found me a girl and she made me her fella,
Now I know, where I was supposed to go.
Carved our way through the oaks to a cellar,
The wine poured free and the sun was so yella
My eyes were free, this is where I want to be.
Then the rain came down with thundering sound
Scaring the rabbits back into the ground
That’s when I thought you’d leave, but you pulled yourself closer to me.
With the dim light, coming through the rain,
I saw your wet hair, your new refrain.
That’s when I knew all the hearts I’ve slain,
And forgot all of my pains.
I saw your heart, you saw mine,
Nothing of our past to pantomime,
We smiled in both our ways,
Then we touched lips in the summer haze.
Ryn: this song is not dumb at all 🙂
Warning Comment
RYN: Thanks for stopping by, eh the movie itself isn’t cheesy at all. I just didn’t want to post the amazing song that wouldn’t lead at all to ‘tears of joy’ haha
Warning Comment
I always end up finding myself in other people’s lyrics. I listen to the music and and feel the words. Can make or break a mood sometimes for sure.
