uninformative from forever ago (i.e. Jan 8, 2012)

Second week back in STL. Hasn’t been too bad. My boss has been MIA, either working on a grant (that’s got nothing to do with my project, because uhm, do I even have a real project?) or on clinical service. So I’ve been doing my own thing, coming into work at 10:00, leaving whenevs. Easing myself back into the swing of things after vacation. It’d be better if I didn’t have a horrible cold that’s just. not. going. away. Coughed up some seriously nasty stuff this morning. Sorry, totally TMI. Also reminded me that I really have to stop smoking (started up again a few months ago).

In other random news, I finally fixed my laptop – replaced the hardrive, all by myself (ok, it’s actually a lot simpler than it sounds). I will never again take for granted how files and settings are all magically preserved each time I turn the power off. And speaking of repairs, my car battery died last week. R.E. helped me jump it and pick out a new battery since mine was apparently dead-dead and completely corroded. There’re a couple of other issues with the car that need to get taken care of, and I was planning on seeing my mechanic today, but it snowed (!!) so I’ve put it off for the weekend. The other day J lectured me about taking better care of my car. I understand he’s right and all, but I don’t enjoy being scolded like a child :/
