Summer Fun

Wow where does the summer go?  I need to get back in here and update more often.  Just not that much excitement happening I guess.  We are in the middle of putting new floor in our kitchen and new countertops. I have the floor picked out but not the countertops so they will start there.  I can’t make up my mind on the countertops.  I had all quartz picked out then quartz on the island and an HD laminent on the rest of the counters.  Then I was going to go with just all HD laminent since I couldn’t find anything to match the quartz.  Now I am going to look at granite on the island and I found a HD laminent I like, I just have to find a granite to go with it.  And did I ever tell you I have a hard time making decisions! My husband is like just pick something and lets do it.  I want it to look nice and put together when we are done.  I love walking into houses and everything just flows and looks put together.  I don’t know maybe I am a work in progress.

Our older son went back to Fargo half way through the summer.  My husband got him a job where he works and they hired a bunch of college students for the summer which was great.  Well my son got laid off!!! If you can belive it.  They let two people go and he was one of them.  He would have done really well working all summer because it paid well and it was full time.  It worked out because  he saved most of his money.  The people that were left got their hours cut to 3 days one week and two the next.  My sister works there to but she didn’t get her hours cut.  They will need people once the college kids go back.  I am going to apply and hopefully get a couple of months in.  My vacation fund is running low.

Our younger son has not found a job at all this summer so it looks like he will not get one.  He has 18 credits this 1st semester and that is to many to work.  He needs to get good grades.  The thing that sucks is that he has no job experience except for about 5 months working in a grocery store.  So when he graduates next fall nobody is going to want him with no experience.  He is going to school to be a police officer.  He does a little volunteer work, doing compliance work in bars to see if they serve him.  Out of 12 bars/resteraunts/convience stores he got served 9 times.  He is tall and a little on the large size so he looks 21, but they still should check.

Well that the story of my life lately in a nutshell.  Hopefully I can get on here more and update more frequently.

Have a great day!

I’ve never heard of the job compliance work, but I can understand it. Cripes, when I was 14 there was a beer joint in my hometown where they sold nickle beers, yes, five cents. For half a buck a buck I could get smilin’ a lot. Glad they didn’t have guys back then gettin’ out and spoilin’ a good thing. Tony’s. His wife Mary would kick us out if we messed up. She also counted number of glasses. Hope all works out for your guys, they seem to be off to a good start. Policeman? Good profession.
