Puerta Vallarta, Mexico

I hope the browser up there comes in for you. That is where we stayed in Mexico and it was a BLAST!!
The food is to die for. They have a five diamond award in hospitatity sciences. Which as far as I could tell was in the best food ever! If you eat at great resteraunts alot you may not think the food is spectacular like we did. We usually eat at Applebee’s, Greenmills, that type of place so the food at the buffet was very, very good. We did eat at one of the resteraunts because we got a free night since we booked there and that food was to die for. You get the really small servings, but they just melt in your mouth. My son had ribs and he wanted the whole damn animal it was so good. I had red snapper and it was very good. Hubby had faitaias and he got a huge serving and was very good.
We don’t know much spanish so drinks were a little on the odd side. My son ordered a orange juice and ended up with what I think was a Malibu and pineapple juice. It was very good. My husband ordered a whiskey old fashion and ended up with a large shot of whiskey. Gonna have to brush up on the spanish for the next time.
Our rooms were huge! Had I known there were going to be so big I would have only booked one room. We had a huge sitting area with a flat screen tv on the wall. Then you walk down the hall and there is a bathroom and two large closets. Then into the bedroom a huge king sized bed and another couch with a table and chairs and a desk. Above the desk was another huge flat screen tv. It was only a 4* hotel but should have been rated a 5* in my opinion. The minibar was always full of soda and beer and snacks. We also had a large patio that was made of marble. We were on the 2nd floor and everynight was movie night. They had movies with popcorn and soda playing right outside our room. We just watched from our balcony every night. It was nice and then after the movie they had other entertainment. One night it was a magic type show with actors and fire and stuff like that. They were setting up chairs with nice white coverings and I thought someone was getting married. They did this all for the show. It was just over the top. The next night they had tables and chairs set up again outside around the pool and I thought maybe dinner outside by the ocean. It was a circus type of show that night. Quiet interesting. I watched from our room again and could see most of it.
We didn’t do much other than that while there. We just ate and beached ourselves around the pool and ocean and relaxed. I enjoyed it alot! The kids would just take off and do whatever but always checked in with us. We usually found our 18 year old sitting at the swim up bar. He thought that was the best thing ever. He could drink and have a good time and swim with beverages in the pool. They really didn’t have any rules what so ever. You could swim in the pool with your drink. Walk around however you wanted too. It was just amazing.
It was an all-inclusive resort so we ate at the buffett most of the time. I had not read anything good about the all-inclusive buffets in Mexico so I went unsure of what we would get. The food was extrodianary to say the least. I ate alot of fish. You could have it prepared right in front of you and fresh. I think someone caught it that day. It was just the best. Different desserts every night, lots of breads, salads, Itailian meats and cheeses, ice creams, just name it. WE had orange juice and champange every morning with our breakfast. They had a omelet station and you choose your ingredients and they prepare it right in front of you. Yum-O it makes me hungry just thinking about it. It was so nice to just get up and walk to where you were going to eat. No decisions on what to make and who wants what and nobody wants that place. You just walk in and eat what you like.
I just cannot say enough good things about this resort. I have to go and leave feeback on their web site because it was a very welcoming place to stay and the service was wonderful.
Really glad I went and had a wonderful time. We saw lots of Iguanas wondering around on a walk path. They filmed the movie from the 60’s "Night of the Iguana" there and we saw a couple of the old buildings still left from it.
The beach was private too. There were a few locals at one end of it but they never came down by the resort. The sales people came down but that was nice. I didn’t have to go looking for anything to buy, they came right up to us. It did get a little agrivating the 3rd day because it was the same stuff and they were always right there. But just a no kept them moving on their way.
So if you have any questions let me know. The web site may show all the Barcello resorts but we stayed at the one in Puerta Vallarta. It’s a nice drive winding up the coast line to the resort. It may be the last resort on that road as far as we could tell.
Hope you enjoy
