A quite weekend

Hubby is gone all weekend to a bowling tournament in Madison.  I am actually glad that he is with his buddies which is where he would be anyway.  It’s a big basketball weekend with the college teams.  It’s really to  bad the Wisconsin Badgers lost.  But they at least made it to the sweet sixteen tournament.  God I am sorry I can’t spell today and I keep having typos.  It’s nice here but windy which takes the temp down a bit.  I think it’s around 46 which is a real treat if you knew our winter this year.
Just got back from seeing my mom & dad.  My dad had back surgery last week and is doing surprisingly well.  He said he can’t believe how well he feels for being out of the hospital only a week.  It’s a huge relief, he had two rods put in his back with four screws to fuse his spine.  He has been putting it off for two years now and I think it just got the best of him.  He wanted out of the pain.  He has been resting and even walking outside a couple of houses.  So he is doing well.  I think he will be surprised at how quickly he heals.  He is pretty active so I think he was worried at how long this whole recovery process would be.  And is finding he has some pretty good days and then some down days.
His best buddy just lost his son this past week in a freak accident.  So he is sad about that.  He was only 58 years old and my dad’s friend isn’t taking it to well.  Then with my dad being laid up he can’t be there for his friend.  Kind of sad but totally unexpected.
Our younger son came home from school sick yesterday so I am sitting around with him all day. Hope I don’t get what he had.  This is like his 3rd cold this year.  Every time he goes back to school from a break he gets sick.  He was sick around X-mas maybe twice and now again.  I had a cold at X-mas so I hope I won’t get it again.
Just did a bunch of laundry and I am sure we will have more again when hubby gets back from tournament.  Probably smell like smoke with his clothes so I will have to wash those.  Yucky!
They just passed a bill here where you can’t smoke in bars now.  Isn’t that just weird.  I think of bars as being so smokey it will just be nice.  Not that I frequent bars alot.  A couple of years ago they passed a law where you couldn’t smoke in restaraunts which is really nice.  You don’t smell or taste smoke now when you get home.  I am a former smoker and I can’t believe how expensive it is to smoke.  I was in a convienice store the other day and I asked the lady does this $5.19 mean that is how much cigs are?  And she said yes.  I am like how can people afford to smoke!  That is just crazy to me.  I think of all the stuff I could buy with that money.  And why is it that the poor people always smoke?  People who can’t afford it?  That just boggles my mind.
Ok well I am off to find something for the little crumb snatcher to eat.  Well I should say big crumb snatcher since he is 6’2".  How did I get such a tall kid?  I am 5’5" and hubby is 5’8".  I will call it a fluke.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I hope your dad’s back is doing better every day. I will eventually need surgery too as a result of the bus accident last Dec, when I was in Wis. when my dad died. I still see the chiropractor weekly & will have another shot for pain this week. I’m happy about the laws about smoking, I’m an ex smoker too. I remember saying I’d never pay over $1.00 for a pack. How on earth can many people even afford to smoke these days?
