I have had a really productive week with the kids so far. They aren’t loving it so much, but the only way I can keep them focused is to move from one subject to another as quick as possible. I think I used to give them too much down time, which made it hard for them to transition from working/studying/quiet-free time back to listening to me. I was talking to Will last night and thinking about my job in general. It made me sad to realize how much I dislike teaching this year. Part of me wonders if it would be different next year if I had a different group of students, but I won’t know because I won’t be here teaching this grade level. It sucks that my only experience teaching fourth grade has been such a blah one. I’m disappointed in  myself for not overcoming the frustrations and making it a good year for myself. I am sure my attitude is a huge factor in my discontentment.

Will and I visited a few wedding halls last night. I think we are pretty much settled on the one we want. It’s $35 per head and includes a 4 hour full open bar. We are going to try to keep our number at 250, so the pricing shouldn’t be too unreasonable. What does everyone consider a normal/acceptable amount to pay per head for meal?  Are we getting a good deal? The other place we looked at was $52 per head, but looked basically the same as the place we like. We are working with a BEAUTIFUL hotel that is three miles from the reception center, and they are offering us great room rates. They are also going to shuttle our guests to and from the reception. Awesome.

I am really enjoying the Wednesday night Bible Study that I am in with all of the other Sem wives. It is wierd to me that I am going to be a pastor’s wife. I wonder what all that entails? Are there things I should be doing to prepare myself? I know that it’s Will’s job, but I’ve never been at a church where the pastor’s wife and family weren’t heavily involved.

I really need to get motivated to get in shape. We were out at a bar the other night–it was very crowded and loud out on the dancefloor where we were. This guy came up behind me and yelled "move out of the way fat girl!". I am not for sure positive that I was the girl he was talking to, but I felt like it was directed at me. As we all know I struggle insanely with body images, so whether he meant it or not, the comment killed me. In my mind I know I am not fat, but all it takes is one stupid boy to make me feel bad about myself. Oh well. Who cares about him? I am marrying a way hotter boy anyway!!

Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!!

We payed $12.50 per head, but didn’t have any alcohol. If the other choice is $52, then I say you’re getting a good deal 🙂

we were at about 13/head, but no alcohol. that was just catering. the hall was like 350 to rent all day, but was county owned.

Ugh. Stupid people! Guys have said stuff like that to my friend Tiff and me when we’re out together, and if one of us doesn’t yell at the guy the other will. It’s a good system :o). Anyway, I’m sure he wasn’t yelling at you, and he was probably drunk anyway. People at bars are stupid. Also, I don’t know much about prices, but the deal you’re getting sounds really good!

35 is great… how much of a open bar? everything or just wine and beer?

And the reason I say that is because you’re getting the space, the shuttle, a room discount, meals, AND alcohol. Keep in mind how expensive alcohol is! You might be able to ask around at different places or ask different people you know who are married to see how your deal compares.

I think that’s an insanely great deal. I haven’t heard of a wedding that was less than $75 a head. I would just make sure that the food is good before you agree to it…because that price sounds incredibly low to me.

I know that stuff in this area is more expensive, though. Still, I’d go with the one that’s $50+ per head, because I’d want to make sure my guests had the best food available and enjoyed the wedding as much as I would.

There is now way that you are fat. You are one of the skinniest people on my entire faves list. I can’t imagine that guy was talking about you. If he was, he must have meant it sarcastically, cuz there’s no way in hell that you’re even CLOSE to fat!

i’m not sure about “per person” costs because we had our reception at our church’s big fellowship hall and had out neighbors cater it, and I decorated it. can’t help ya there!

January 25, 2007

ok, you are NOT fat, you are freaking gorgeous. He was definitely talking to someone else!!!!! EITHER THAT OR HE’S BLIND!

January 25, 2007

Congrats on your engagement!!! I love wedding talk! I, however, cannot help you on the cost per person thing…we did it all ourselves. BTW you need to post a picture here on OD because some people (okay, me) don’t do myspace and can’t see your pictures. I want to see that boy and that ring! Congrats, again!

That price sounds reasonable! The halls we were looking at ranged 20-75/person, and everything that included a full bar was 50/ea and up.

I’m 100% positive he wasn’t talking about you, you crazy nut! You are tiiny. And I know because I have seen pictures :p Unless he meant it sarcastically, because you are SO thin. And the wedding sounds so exciting so far!!! I know nothing about prices, but I’m sure it will be fantastic! You must update on the dress situation – that’s my favorite part!

January 25, 2007

Oh yes, and I agree with someone up there! Pictures! I have no myspace!

i really doubt that guy was talking to you when he said “fat girl” because in no sane universe are you fat!
