There’s a movie coming out called "The U.S. vs. John Lennon"

I hope it’s not some politically slanted, anti-Bush propaganda crap like Farenheit 9/11.

I hope they don’t make Lennon into some abused perfect man of peace.

Because both those things would be an insult to all that made him great. He was not a nice guy. He was a damn awful egotistical asshole. But that’s the key. He had so much violence and anger in him. And that’s why all the more he wanted peace. Because he knew what he was. And he knew what infected others around him. And he was just sick and weary of it. By requesting peace from the world, he was challenging his demons to lay down their arms just as much as world to lay down theirs.

And this point is important to me. And really I don’t care about the movie if it abuses his image. Whatever, it’s just a movie. If people have a wrong impression of Lennon… whatever. It’s more I care about what Lennon represents for me. A companion. Hearing his anger, pain, agony, insecurities, dreams… all bring me an ounce of comfort and fellowship. And maybe the movie feels potentially like a defaming of something too sacred for me to be profaned.

Maybe I say this so you’ll know before seeing the movie, if you see it.
Maybe I just say it so it’s said.
