eggbound

i’m just home for a very quick whistle stop tour at the moment.  i went to vision express to get my eyes checked.  you’re supposed to have them checked every three months.  my last check was in april.  i had a new optician today, and she was indeed very new, she had to keep going out and asking my normal optician what to do.  she also kept turning on the wrong lights on the big board.  bless.

mother was also going for her first ever eye test.  she’s been fighting the long sightedness for a long time now and she can barely read a thing, and her arms aren’t long enough to hold the newspaper far enough away now.  she made me come to ensure she didn’t get ‘some deidre glasses.’  the ones she got are nice though – rimless glasses.  we can’t tell dad how much they cost – because the frames alone cost over a hundred quid and considering they’re rimless, that’s not actually any frame you’re paying for.

we did a few more jobs because we had to wait two hours before we got her new glasses back (what about all this ‘have your new glasses in under an hour’ bullshit?).  we also went for lunch, and mum made me talk about her favourite topic, that being ‘who is getting fat in my house.’  honestly.

we then went to sainsburys to get a few bits.  i’m on a stupid health kick and i told her what i have for breakfast (special k).  honestly, it’s like living in frigging pheonix nights round here, my mother is so.. loudly northern sometimes.

mum: ‘so, what are you eating nowadays for breakfast?’
me: ‘special k.’
mum: ‘don’t you want me to get some eggs?’
me: ‘why?’
mum: ‘for scrambled eggs.  i thought you had scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast.’
me: ‘nah, i’ve stopped doing that now… bit sick of it.’
mum: *knowing wink* ‘did you get a bit eggbound then?’
me: ‘eh?’
mum: (too loudly) ‘you know.  eggbound.  when you have too many eggs and it bungs you up.

[old couple go past making agreeing faces]

‘happens quite a lot you know.  boiled eggs, mostly.  if you have more than two or three in a week, well…’  *wrinkles nose*

(to put my lovely reader’s minds at rest: no, as far as i know i didn’t get eggbound).

ooh, good news: the tickets for the nme tour (at leeds) have been confirmed.  i’d drunkenly ordered them online last night (i have a habit of doing that).  i’d quickly sunk a bottle of bollinger before i got on the train because i’d met up with girls from work to spend our work prize money.  we spent a hundred pounds on champagne.  obscene.  good job the food was cheap.  anyway, lynsey and rachel are coming with me so that should be good.  on a side note, i really recommend train journeys whilst pissed.  i was on for an hour and a half and it felt like fifteen minutes.  nice.

:oD

Guess who I bumped into at the opticians? EVERYONE! Yes, your Mum rocks. I think I should probably do that eye test thing too.

You have your eyes tested every 3 months?

February 1, 2004

So leaving 2 years between eye tests is not reccomended then? Ah.

Well, I’m fussy about my jackets. I didn’t really see any nice ones I wanted when I had any money, and vice versa. And I don’t really do charity shops..

Sock! I’m sorry for leaving non-descript notes if you even use this site anymore. But… I’m now here.

RYN: I just had this major paranoia about people I know in real life reading my diary, namely a particular female who I’ve mentioned my desire for. It’s probably something of nothing, and after a month or so the privacy will more than likely lose itself (it’s a pain in the arse having to sign in to see if you’ve got new notes!). But until that day, I’ll keep on dancing in Private form.

You’ve spent a lot of time eggbound, Sock!

eggbound? tee hee! yeah, babies smell of poo. not just poo though. i find the smell tends to be of poo mixed with baby powder. somehow, that’s even grosser than the smell of pure poo.

Aye, I bleached the ends, it would never show up otherwise! Then semi permanent dyes like Stargazer usually give the best colours like that.
