cool breeze

shock! horror! i actually did some work for once, today. the ‘cool breeze’ that was suppose to come over the vale of york yesterday finally reached us today, so it was just that little bit nippy to sit outdoors. following on from that, it was nice to sit indoors, unlike yesterday (it was like being incased in an oven). instead of just revising by reading off the page, i’ve been printing essays and articles off the internet and making my own essay plans to certain questions which i’m quite certain will come up in the exam. i managed to do two today, and it was quite a bit to do as well.

my dad was supposed to meet me for lunch today, because he was over here in york on business, and he said he’d call me to see if he could make it. by four o’ clock, i hadn’t heard a thing from him. apparently my phone kept saying to him ‘this number is no longer accepting calls’, so i assume he must’ve rung my old phone number. grr. stupid dads.

i apologise that my life is so mind numbingly dull at the moment. in two weeks i’ll have something interesting to say, i promise. and jack and claire will be back, so the old ‘will they/won’t they tell’ soap opera will be back in force once more.

You have an exciting life compared to me. My main concern is whether I should get a job in the toy library…so anyway, good luck with your revision.

Thank God!

Dull is good. Uneventful-ness is just what I need.

RYN: I don’t want to reveal which uni I went to on OD but let me put it one way, for decent courses like Economics or Politics(!), you have to get similar grades to get into my uni as you do York. I think I revealed in an earlier entry why I have an irrational hatred (which is somewhat rational) of Durham! Essentially it’s because (IMHO) their students are kind of smug and it’s not justified.

York may have only been built in the 60s but it’s research rankings have rocketed straight the roof since then. Similarly, there are other sub-Oxbridge unis out there with world-class lecturers and consequently harder(!) courses whilst Durham has lecturers whose research is not world-class and because the uni has been there since the dawn of time they think they are special – ok rant over!
