Let me go
This is the start of a song I’m working on. I’m sure the words will change once I work out more of the music. Or, really, any of the music.
The world kept on spinning,
even when I wasn’t looking.
So I know I’m not the center,
no, not the center of a single thing.
And the clouds in the sky
can’t tell a lie;
they all point away, yeah.
Chorus:
I can cut myself from every photograph,
I won’t miss myself, no.
And I’ll be ahistorical, allegorical,
downright metaphorical,
you just have to let me go.
Change is the state of life,
yet I remain unchanging.
So I know I’m not a part,
no, not a part of anything.
These concrete walls
won’t break my falls;
They just lead away, yeah.
Rivers and oceans, set in their ways
go on without compromising.
So I know I can’t control,
no, I can’t control these things.
And I don’t know why
I would even try;
They’ll take me away, yeah.
