You have truly made my night.

Irony: (n)  An occurrence, result, or circumstance notable for an incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs.  For example: being told to grow balls by someone who lacks the courage to sign their name to their comment.

I am currently listening to Bach’s “Kyrie Eleison”, which translates out to “God have mercy.”  As far as I understand, it’s a requiem.  One of the better ones I’ve heard-Mozart’s “Lacrimosa” is also good, as is Chopin’s…something in B minor.  Don’t feel like looking it up.

>I think today’s entry will be a little sermon.  The topic?  Honor and its place in society today.

A good place to start, I think, would be the question, “What is honor?”  And, for my purposes, let’s define “honor” as a moral code of integrity, dignity, and pride.

>
>Honor is that little thing that sometimes makes us do what is “right” regardless of any consequence or reward.  And, frankly, the lack of honor in today’s society is sickening.

Honor was what led gentlemen to duels.  Duels had very strict rules, and it was considered very bad form to stray from these rules in any way.  It was important to always treat one’s adversary with respect.  More importantly, it was imperitive to conduct oneself with the utmost dignity and pride.

>
>Today, honor and its good friend chivalry are dead.  Girls get into petty name-calling spats over their boyfriends.  People stab their friends in the back.  All around, people have no pride and no respect for themselves.  Too afraid to state their opinions honestly, people spread rumours and hide behind the anonymity that gossip can provide.

In the past, any person who was afraid to face their opponent openly would be ostracized.  But today’s society somehow allows for such blatent and loathsome cowardice.

>
>So if someone is too much of a coward to sign their name after leaving a note telling me to grow some balls–forget the lack of logic–where’s the honor?  The absolute lack of a spine demonstrated in that action SICKENS me.  It ENRAGES me.  Would you like to know why?  I want to face this “adversary” face-to-face, or at least as close to it as the internet will provide.  I want to call  this weak excuse for a human being out of being what he is-a coward.  I am not afraid to tell you what you are–what are you afraid of
