Interview for Hubby!!!
Just as a warning, I’m about to go all political nerd here.
Hubby got an interview! And not only is it an interview, it’s an interview with Russ Feingold!!! Ok, maybe he’s not as big of a deal in other parts of the country, but he is my favorite, favorite politician ever. I’ve been a HUGE fan of him ever since he ran for the senate in 1992 (and yes, if you do the math, I was 11–I’ve been a political nerd forever).
I have such enormous respect for him, because he actually votes for what he believes, and if he gets questioned on anything, he can completely explain why he voted the way he did, so even if you don’t agree with him, you have to give him respect for being honest. It of course helps that I usually agree with him, but I know quite a few republicans that like him quite a bit, too.
Just to put this in context, I think this is what a normal person would experience if they found out they were going to interview with Angelina Jolie or something. Yes, I am a Feingold groupie. How pathetic is that?
So the interview hasn’t been scheduled, but they’re going to call him sometime in the next 2 weeks to set it up, and I think they’re looking to fill the position right away. And since Feingold’s office is right here where we live now, we wouldn’t have to move. Which is both good and bad, but this way we would be living near both of our parents when we have our first baby. Which would definitely be nice.
I know I shouldn’t get ahead of myself, because it’s not like he has the job, but still, just an interview is exciting. Hubby met with one of the staffers to get advice on applying for federal jobs, and the staffer was so impressed with him that he asked if hubby would want to interview to work there. So that’s definitely a step in the right direction, since he’s already met someone who works in the office, and hit it off.
Sorry to get all nerdy there. He’s just honestly my favorite person in politics right now, and probably would be even if he wasn’t from my state. Eek! So excited!
wow, that’s awesome! Congrats!
