Movin’ on down

Yep, we’re moving to the ghetto. Well, ghetto for my city is not really ghetto, but still it will be a pretty big step down.

Our lease is up at the end of March, and we’re pretty sure we won’t be moving out of the state by then, and our current place doesn’t do monthly leases, so we have to move. The problem is, the only places that do month-to-month leases are the really sketchy apartment complexes.

I love our place right now. We live in a duplex with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, a garage, and a basement. I’ve gotten spoiled. My kitties have gotten spoiled. I don’t know what they’ll do when they don’t have stairs to chase each other on.

I’ve looked at a few apartments, and they’re all ok, but in bad neighborhoods and just kind of run-down. It’s going to depress me to have to live there. My only hope is this place that I’m going to look at this weekend. It’s in a brand new building, 3 bedrooms, and looks really nice, and for some reason it’s not any more expensive than the other places we’re looking at.

The thing is, they’ll only do month-to-month leases with a credit check. We don’t have bad credit, but we don’t have much credit at all. It’s a concept that seems totally unfair to me–I have no debt, so therefore I don’t qualify for anything. How does that make sense? Anyway, I explained my credit situation, and he said he would have to run a credit check before he could tell me one way or another. They also check rental history, which is a good thing.

Which brings me, finally, to the actual point of this entry! Wow, I’m long-winded. Anyway, my question is, is it ok to pray for something like this? Can you pray for an apartment you want? It just seems so selfish. Usually when I ask for things, it’s for other people, because I’ve never gotten comfortable with asking God for things for me.

Does praying for yourself really make any difference at all? I mean, isn’t the idea that God already has everything planned out? So what’s the point? This is what sucks about having grown up without religion–I don’t have a clue how to actually go about practicing my faith.

Praying gives you hope and comfort. I think it’s definitely okay to pray for something like this, as long as you pray for something to better someone else too.. So you can say, “PLease let us get this apartment and help that old guy on the corner find a place warm to stay tonight.” lol that’s how I would make myself feel better. Well, I hope everything works out! 🙂

Personally, I try to avoid praying for a specific thing, since everything tends to work out in the right way anyway even if I don’t get exactly what it is I’d been praying for. Maybe just pray that G-d will help you find a nice place, or help you see the good in whatever ends up happening. Sometimes it helps to pray because it helps you remember that everything will work out ok.

I’m not much of a pray-er [prayor?] myself but I think its ok to pray for good things. Having a decent place to live and praying that you get it doesnt sound selfish to me. & also, you pray for other people, so I would imagine that other people pray for you too. I think it all works out in the end. RYN: I am trying to go a little bit darker, towards my natural color which is dirty blonde/light brown. Right now its that super fake platinum color, haha. I cant do it myself because my natural color has grown out about 5 inches… I need a professional to do it because of the two different colors that my hair is right now. blah. =]

God tells us to pray for the desires of our hearts. He knows you want it anyways. Just pray for it but pray that His will be done. He understand us already. Good luck hun.

Good luck with the apartment, I hope it’s wonderful. How long have you been in your current place? You could find out if they’ll work something out with you, ie: if you know you’ll be there for another six months maybe they’d make an exception and let you sign a six month? It’s worth checking on, it’s easier for them the longer you stay so I bet they’d be willing to work something out. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. 🙂

the bible tells us to spill the desires of our hearts. Yes he knows them but it takes faith to pray to him. Instead of asking, speak of it already taken care of. Thank you lord for providing us with a safe and perfect home…that sort of thing…it’s the step of faith that He WILL provide… That’s how I feel anyway.. -hugs-
