cards and such

i had a good weekend. on friday night, we visited friends. sawyer had fun running around with their young dog and talking to their cats. he played with his cars for a bit and then went to sleep in his play pen in their bedroom.

saturday, i had my crop, which i really enjoyed. there were only 3 of us there so it was easy to get good prizes this time. i got some croptalks (should’ve skipped those b/c i didn’t realize i had some of them. i have a friend i can give them to though), some baggies of shapes (i needed circles, as i haven’t bought a circle punch yet), a picture file folder thingy, some stickers, and i think that’s all. i bought some halloween/fall stickers and a border. i think i definitely want my crop day (we each host one and get the benefits from doing so) to be a border class. she has some really nice borders but i didn’t have any more money to buy more.

when dennis came to pick me up, he told me we were due to have supper at our friends u & k.v.’s house in about a half hour. he’d gone to see them while i was gone (he couldn’t get in to get the tires rotated so wandered over to their house) and they invited us over. we had a nice time (as usual) over there. sawyer was SO good with their baby; he even shared his special kitty and blankie with him.

sunday, we had our family thanksgiving with dennis’s family. sawyer had a great time playing over there. he played with the kids fine but was also fine with playing on his own. he didn’t once have to be told not to touch anything or to behave himself. i really hope he stays so happy and well-behaved. really really hope. i don’t want to have the tantrums and refusals to do things and all the fun 2-year-old behaviours i hear about. he’s such a nice little boy just the way he is and i don’t want that to change. of course, he’s going to change. i understand that but i mean i want him to stay happy and days filled with tantrums and whatnot can’t be as fun as playing and colouring and laughing all day.

sawyer isn’t eating much these days. he eats lunch and snacks pretty well. this is a battle i have chosen not to take with him. he’s not starving. he’s not having a tantrum about it. he’s just not interested. he doesn’t get a snack after he hasn’t eaten (except milk at bedtime) unless it’s a special occasion (like last night), so i figure he’ll start eating normally again soon. he’s teething, he’s growing, who knows what number of things it could be? i’m not going to push it. i truly do believe that you shouldn’t force kids to clean their plates. a toddler isn’t going to give in anyway, so why make a war over it every mealtime? we try to coerce him to eat a bit when the meal starts but if he refuses, we move on. he gets fruit and, if nothing else, eats that at least.

anyway, we came home after the thanksgiving gathering, put sawyer in bed, and watched Room 1408. it was okay. creepy and weird. i wasn’t expecting much anyway. it’s always hard to make a short story into a movie. it probably reads better as a story.

 the first one is a thank you card written by my good friend u.v. it was really touching and thanked us for all we’ve done for them. had us both a bit teary-eyed. the second one is from diarist alisha (thank you!!!! sawyer LOVED it) and the last one is a thank you card for sawyer from u.v., her hubby, and baby for the blanket he gave their baby.
