you wouldn’t like me

I told him I have herpes

I told him that I had sex with him and didn’t tell him I have herpes

and he freaked out

for a second

and then he said he’d like to see me again

after a very long conversation about the disease itself

how it’s spread

all of those lovely things that no one talks about

and he said he wasn’t afraid of getting it

which is false

anyone in their right mind doesn’t want herpes

and then

he thought about it again

and he’s less eager

but he doesn’t seem to care that much

I don’t know

I haven’t known him that long

and I get wary when people say they don’t care

and hurt when they do

there is no winning I guess

unless they have it too.
