I hope you guys still like me after this-politics

Ok, so last night I didn’t plan on getting too drunk. I just wanted to have a drink or two so I was relaxed, go to the York and hit that dance floor. So we went to a party for a bit, then headed to the York. Ok, so this is what really gets me…they wouldn’t let me in. They didn’t ID Josh, he is 23, so definately of age. Waved in that other guy we were with who is only 18, and carded me! I don’t have ID, only proof that I was 19…not good enough. I wasn’t allowed. I don’t get it! The other guy wasn’t of age…and he wasn’t carded!

So we ended up going to this other bar, which we were the only people who were there. We had some fries and wings…ordered some beer and were just hanging out. A bunch of guys walk in. It took about 5 minutes of them playing pool next to us before Josh clued in that he knew one of them. After that, they spent the rest of the night sitting with us.
That was when it started getting interesting. I was already a little drunk to start. But they were ordering pitchers of beer like it was going out of style! I kept meaning to slow down on the drinks, but my glass kept being filled up, they said I had no choice in the matter.
We got into a very interesting debate. It was political in some ways, and in others just stupid on my part because I was drunk and couldn’t hold my argument very well.
Now, this is going to sound very weird, especially because of what I just said in Blue’s last entry. The debate was about how much we Canadians hate Americans. I was one of the ones who were into it the most. I think one of the reasons we had the debate was because one of the guys that was there was an american. I was impressed, he held his ground very well. He took a lot of bashing from me. The one thing I kept repeating though, was that I don’t hate americans individually, I love my american OD members and other americans I have come across. What I hate is their ignorance of our nation. We know so much about them, and yet they care nothing to know anything of us. They think of us as inferior, think that they are above everyone else…well, I’m going to be very careful of what I say in here…I have learned from last night that this debate can get very heated. I have learned that some Canadians will actually defend americans to the death. I have disowned those people as individuals. One of the things mentioned last night that part of who we are as Canadians is our anti-americanism. And I am damn proud of that. The day we get rid of our current prime minister I will be partying for a week…he is a disgusting and dangerous man. I seriously think someone would assasinate him. Although, assassination seems to have reverse affects. Once the person is gone, all of their beliefs seem to be carried out. Malcom X, Martin Luther King Jr….etc.(even stars…Elvis, Kurn Cobain, seem to be huge all because they died. And I didn’t know anyone that listened to Johnny Cash until after he died and they made that movie about him – just a thought)
So anyways…this debate went on for HOURS…me being the "I hate americans no matter what you say to me…and I will make up ridiculous things just to prove this point". There was one guy helping me out, because I am not very good or as well-educated on the topic as I would like to be – especially because I was so drunk and using points that I really knew nothing about.
There was the American who was being a complete asshole and said that the way americans view Canada is their friend with down’s syndrome. I almost hit the guy for that one. But he was hot…
Then there was all of us Canadians. Most of which knew what they were talking about better than I did. Most of them sided with me, but when I said something stupid, which was all the time, they argued on the american side.
It was a good time. Especially because it was all in good fun. Despite everything we all said, we were all mature enough to not hate each other for what we were saying. I think the stupidest thing I said all night was that Canadians were better than Americans, lmfao. As a nation, yes. As people, no.
Wow some of you may stop reading my diary after this entry. lol. I am welcoming all notes, I feel very strongly about the topic.

At the end of the night, I was sitting next to the American guy…they called him Waldo that was his nickname, I’m not sure why.
So at the end…I think it was almost 3am at this point, he put his arm around me. I don’t know why, but I have a crush on him. He kept on smirking at me…one of those asshole guy smirks like, "I got what I wanted" kind of smirks. We still kept on discussing the american vs. canadian thing, but not as angrily. It was kind of just between him and me…he said that in the time he has spent in Canada, he has learned a lot about us. He siad that it never occured to him that we might not like them. He said that I was unique just because of my intense, undying hatred for his country. I told him that he wasn’t like most americans I met. The ones on OD here are all awesome, but any americans I met while working at Tim Horton’s were……not. I am being very cautious here. You guys all mean a lot to me, I wouldn’t want to lost any friends because of my anti-americanism.
So we talked a bit…then I stood beside him when we were about to leave…we were still talking, I don’t know what about, but I was trying really hard to imply that I wanted to kiss him, and he wouldn’t! So I went for it. then he said something stupid about "this is what an american will do. I’ll give you that, but that’s it." Man…I really liked that guy. So I think that’s my exception…it wasn’t making out with some random guy…I spent hours talking to the guy. I will probably never see him again. I kissed him…then Josh yelled at me because the cab was there. So I turned around and left. If the guy liked me back…I’m sure he could get my msn or something…it would probably be pointless though. He said he doens’t use msn or anything like that. I guess that was it.
I like guys that say no to me. Or play hard to get. I hate when guys are all over me, and so flirty. That debate was awesome. I like strongly opinionated people. He held his own very well. I had a really good time. I’m glad I went out, I learned something about myself. I’m also glad I met someone that I liked since Ryan…I know it’s stupid but even if I never see the guy again, it’s good to feel something other than just pain from being hurt all the time.
     Good times, good times.

Ok, since I can’t reply to the note about Canadians not being able to spell…I will do it here. Have you heard of David Suzuki, Michel Tremblay,Farley Mowat, Lucy Maude Montgomery, Stephen Leacock, Margaret Laurence, John McCrae, W.O. Mitchell, Robert Service, Elizabeth Smart, or Margaret Atwood? Accusing us of being unable to spell is no way to generalize. Maybe you should take a good look

around OD…and maybe around your country, because Canadians do a lot more for you than I think you realize. Americans are too uninformed to know about it. And THAT my friends…is the whole point I was trying to make…that you just don’t give a F4CK about anyone but yourselves…and most of you it’s not even your fault…but then…you elected “Bush” (oh god, just the name itself LOL)didn’t you?

I honestly think America should get out the war.I mean its their fight not ours and why kill all the college kids when we could have them do something helpful like become doctors. As for us electing bush.Everyone makes mistakes.Right?

January 30, 2007

Some people have to make the same mistake at least twice before they learn better.Thats probably why the U.S. is still having problems.

re: you’re right. Winter is beautiful. I think I was just blaming it on my problems because I didn’t know what else to blame.

I hate Americans. And I am one. Bastards.
