Yay for natural birth!

 Today I watched my first live vaginal birth. I was assisting a mom during labor. I held her leg.. had a bird’s eye view of everything. I wanted to cry when the baby came out. It was really amazing. 

Gah… I feel like I’ve lost some of my poetic edge. (see above) I used to write like a WRITER! 

Okay, …. guess it’s b/c I’ve been doing dry Nursing papers  for the past 9 months. No creative writing involved there at all. I need to write more. 

Anyway…. 

I also watched a C-section today. There was such a difference between the vaginal birth and the c-section. The c-section was so… impersonal–so sterile. The surgeon came in, got the baby out, sutured the mother up and left. Baby was born, yeah, but the mother didn’t see him come out. The mother’s head was under a blue sterile sheet. She could only hear him crying. And the smell of the cauterized flesh. UGH! It really smelled like burning flesh. And how do I know what that smells like? I don’t know! I just do! I must have burned myself at some point. I get it out of my nasal passages. So gross!

The vaginal birth, however, was…. beautiful. It progressed like one of those storybook birthing scenarios. Perfect head positioning, baby cried immediately, mom and dad kissing and hugging and crying. Yes, the father cried. ((Awwwwww!!)) I will never forget that woman… What a cool experience. I am going to love being a Nurse Practitioner. 

Been playing some World of Warcraft lately. Man, do I love that game. This is going to sound very foreign to you guys, but I’ve got a level 85 undead priest and she is ROCKIN’! <3 I raised her up from just a lass. 

I have a friend on there that calls me his WoW girlfriend. Even now Amir jokes "You playing with your WoW boyfriend tonight?" We’ve become good friends over the past few months. I can tell him pretty much anything, and find myself wanting to tell him about my day as it progresses. So I installed Skype mobile on my cell phone so we could potentially chat or whatever on that. I don’t think he’s interested, though. We don’t even know one another’s real names. It’s actually kinda cool. =] But alas, I will not get to tell him about my day as it progresses. I will just have to wait til I see him at night on WoW. 

Have an exam tomorrow. I should probably be studying. Alright, back to the books! Hope I do alright. =D
