3X Olympics performer = 44yo Vegas prostitute

 

 

 

 

The most decorated U.S. collegiate womens’ track stars of all time, Suzy Favor Hamilton, has been ‘outed’ for a 2012 stint as a $600-an-hour Las Vegas prostitute. Hamilton was the "Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Decade" for the 1990’s when a track star at the University of Wisconsin and has since married and is the mother of a 7yo child.

 

This is pretty big news in prostitution circles as Suzy Hamilton entails a different human profile than those of the young-ish, struggling adult female in difficult economic times. This is a woman who has a successful business back home in Wisconsin and for whom no apparent financial problems have been unearthed.

I really love how matter-of-fact Hamilton was once caught by inquiring minds. She was probably wrong to trust the run-of-the-mill Johns who knew her true identity not to pass the info around to one another until it landed in the wrong hands. While I myself know the real identities of maybe ten to twelve prostitutes, they’re the sorts whose identities remain fairly random, and otherwise unspectacular. Same cannot be said for a celebrity on some stage. In the same way that some privacy laws simply do not apply to people who have accepted their celebrity, it is sort of true that Suzy Favor Hamilton was (foolish, mostly) to imagine keeping that secret for all eternity, especially after helping the story build momentum as she did.   

I can only imagine that had Hamilton been working as a prostitute twenty-five years ago, it would have been the 2012 equivalent to some of getting to pay to have sex with Australian runner Michelle Jenneke. 

For a sense of how ‘big’ Suzy Favor Hamilton was – the "Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year Award" is now called the "Suzy Favor Award"!

I can’t give any frame of reference about the sexual attributes of a fit and accomplished track star, nor do I know what to perceive about a 44-year-old prostitute. $600 an hour or $6000 for a 24-hour liason were her going rates (compare that to the women I see typically asking $180 to $200 per hour). I’m quite certain I’d prefer to spend 3 hours with the women I see than enjoy one hour with Suzy Favor Hamilton, but I suspect my feelings might be different were I a big fan of Womens’ track.

I’m really impressed that someone of her stature both went into the business for reasons other than financial hardship and didn’t turn and run as might a small animal attempt to race away from a much larger animal. She could really bring some much needed mainstream acceptance to prostitution.

With the way the economy is in 2012 it just makes sense that many women 25 and under have turned to prostitution to pay their way in the rugged, early stages of adult life. I’m impressed that many of them handle themselves quite professionally and generally pride themselves on offering an authentic service for the asking price.

It is just… refreshing that Suzy Favor Hamilton has conducted herself with such poise today just a few years after Ashley Alexandra Dupre initially attempted to turn and run when it was discovered that she’d been the working girl sent to Washington DC to rendezvous with former NY State Governor Eliot Spitzer. I’m glad, too, that Ashley Dupre landed a gig with the New York Post, and that society is being relatively accepting of her notoriety.

I’m not guessing there will be too much more to come of this seeming scandal, in part due to Suzy Hamilton’s not having given the press inspiration to chase her into the dark corners. She stood up somewhat confidently, albeit not proudly, and she did the biz a big favor.
