hey OD!

so, I know that I don’t write here very often… it’s sad, kinda, because I actually open this site and read it almost every day. I do have a lot of things going on; I’ve been really busy with a few different things.

I’m still teaching yoga and have settled in to my class schedule really well. I currently have 8 public classes a week and I see a few different people for private lessons every week. I’m still adjunct faculty to the teacher training program that our school runs and that has been fun. I teach in two different training groups in Austin and will be hitting the road for our satellite programs in San Antonio and Salado, Texas. Our school has about 130 teachers on staff, and they just decided to create a Teacher Council to represent the different traditions that we teach so that each one is represented when it comes time to create the schedule of classes as well as workshops and events. They’ve asked me to be the representative of the ‘modern’ traditions of flow based/vinyasa yoga. It should be fun, and I do welcome the opportunity to be a leader in this community of teachers.

I also accepted a position with a non-profit organization called Project Zen Haiti; they are a group of folks who teach yoga in Haiti to people doing relief work as well as working within the local community. I’m their new director of teacher training; I’ll be writing their teacher training curriculum and then visiting them a few times a year to lead it. Wow.

My softball team just got back from a week in Washington DC where we competed in the Gay World Series. It was fun, and while we didn’t do as well as we expected/as well as we normally do, I am really glad that I go to go. I had a lot of fun with my softball friends and Richie… we got to eat at my favorite restaurant… Toki Underground. Amazing Taiwanese ramen…. I want more!

I’m still working at Sephora, and loving it as usual. The next few months are going to be busy for me in my makeup artist role also. There is an annual fundraiser called Dragoween going on the last weekend of October. It is a lot of drag queens and other dancers performing to raise money for different sober living facilities in the area. I worked on the show last year as a makeup artist (I did the makeup for the drag kings and for the lead choreographer) and they’ve asked me back this year as the lead makeup artist. I need to spend the next few days designing the looks for the different numbers and then creating the face charts for those looks to share with the other artists working under me. Stage makeup is fun, but labor intensive… I have to create something dramatic, pretty, visible to the back row, and water and sweatproof.

Yikes… I’m busy. But today is the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks… so now I’m going to roll out my yoga mat and practice and reflect on my freedom and it’s cost. Then I need to go to the gym, eat some lunch (I’m vegan again), and then get over to the yoga center to teach a hatha flow class followed by a hatha class. So much to do, so much to see!

RYN: Well, who would ever have believed that two people from TX/CA who know each other from the internet would be in the same freakin’ restaurant in the same freakin’ city at the same freakin’ time? It absolutely blows my mind!

Glad things are well mr 🙂

Yeah, I don’t write too much here anymore, either. Even when I do, the site doesn’t want to work. Oh well, such is life. At least it sounds as if your life is jam packed with good stuff. Woot!
