back to the future!

Well, I finally have internet access again! it’s been a little more than four months without it, and I would get my fix by checking email over  my phone, taking my laptop to Starbucks (or Starbies as I call it), and just disengaging for the most part. My formerly extensive internet usage has been reduced to Facebook on the iPhone and using Instagram on my phone also. If you use Instagram and want to check out my stream, please let me know 🙂

So today is a beautiful day in Washington DC, and I think I’m going to spend the morning catching up on True Blood (I missed the entire last season), puttering around on the internet and then I think I’m going to get Rich and then hop on our bikes to ride down to the national zoo… which is like a quarter mile away from my house. Love that! I’ll instagram some pictures….

I’m working at Sephora, doing a little more than part time but not quite full time… it’s a super busy store, and there is quite a bit of…. opportunity to grow there. The people are fun, but I don’t see a lot of potential for friends out side of the store. That’s mostly because I’m the oldest person working there, I’m literally working with with people who are on average half my age. Sigh.

I’m going to be teaching yoga at a place in Dupont Circle called Yoga House; it used to be a full studio but she closed up her storefront and now rents space in a church. It’s a gorgeous space and easy to get to by foot and bike for me. I was put into to contact with the owner by one of her teachers. He was in Austin for a real estate conference (that’s his day job) and on the last day of his visit he went to a yoga class at the studio I used to teach at and took a class from one of my favorite teachers; she told him about me and then gave me his contact information. Later that day he went out to a bar with some of his work friends and met a girl who had been a student of mine for 6 years and she told him all about me and also gave him my contact info and got his for me… so in one day I got two emails from yoga friends giving me his contact information and he got my info from them as well as rave reviews. We were emailing the next day, then went to yoga together the day after that.

I have an audition with another yoga center in two weeks, and this one is literally around the corner from my house. I can walk there in about one minute. There is another one about 45 seconds away, and I want to contact the owner there about an interview as well. I would love to teach at the two centers closest to me, but there are literally 4 different centers within 3 blocks of my house. One of them is the DC Art of Living Foundation center, and I’ve always wanted to check them out.

Okay, time to get some food in my body and then see what’s going on at the zoo!

OMG… talk about “meant to be.” That is wild about the guy hearing about you and you getting two different e-mails. I’m sure you will find work… I can’t believe there are that many places to teach so close together. I wonder how they all stay in biz.

how cool is that, i agree with ListenWithin….very “meant to be”. also killer that you have so many places so close to your home that you can literally walk there in minutes! i love that.

Nice, good to hear you were able to scope out a prime location in the yoga district!

Too bad 24hr comic day is over, now. I wish I got your note about the fly girl makeover. I think Lady Justice would look pretty badass with compound eyes.
