it finally happened

after over 3 months of anticipation Rich and I were finally reunited. Then we stressed each other out over the impending move… we couldn’t find a service to transport our dog and cat for less than a few thousand dollars, so in the end we scrapped our plan of shipping our belongings and flying up to Washington DC. Well, not entirely for that reason… we didn’t have a place to live when Rich arrived in Texas, and halfway through the week we got a call that we were accepted for an apartment we’d applied for. So, with a place to go to we thought it would be better to load up a U Haul and drive across the country… in 3 days of torrential rain. it was a nightmare, but we made it through. I couldn’t help but think it was somehow symbolic, but I refuse to over think it.

Our apartment is in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of the district; if I walk three blockts away from my apartment I can see the white house and Washington monument. Weird! I’m surrounded by restaurants and cute boutiques. There was a street festival in our neighborhood yesterday and we walked in to a locally owned furniture and design studio and bought a new couch and bar for our living room… we made their day, I’m sure.

My days are pretty much spent unpacking boxes, and it gets a little boring, but I have my dog to keep me company. We’ve been going on walks to Malcolm X park (formally known as Meridian Hill park). I’ve also been riding my new bike around  the neighborhood and enjoying the whole foods as well as Harris Teeter market that are just blocks away.

There are two yoga centers near, both of them literally around the corner. I’m going to check them out this week… I hope to find a place to teach pretty soon, I’m so bored not working. I feel untethered and I need something to do soon. Oh well, I’m supposed to start my part time gig at Sephora at the end of the week, I’m sure I’ll be complaining about work in no time…

I’m going to wrap this up and get home to get to work on some stuff… I hope y’all are doing well!
