School starts!

Well, I finally got a chance to see the damage to the truck… and it was so much less than I thought it would have been. It was literally a dent I can probably get out with a rubber mallet and a scratch that runs across two panels. Hardly a reason to call and get so angry at me. Mommy in Law called me about two weeks ago, but I didn’t get the call… my iphone has been problematic lately; if I miss a call it doesn’t notify me, and it also doesn’t tell me when I have any voicemail. So I finally noticed that I hadn’t gotten any calls or voice messages in A MONTH, and when I called to check my voicemail the old school way I had 15 messages, including one from Mommy in Law. She had fallen and hit her head, but by then it was a week later. Oops. I feel like a dick for ignoring her, but it wasn’t intentional, and also…. what could I have done? I couldn’t go help her since she lives in another city and my bus system doesn’t go there! I told her today to just call 911 in that situation.

Speaking of… I need to replace my phone. Rich called me about 8 times on Saturday night but I didn’t get any of the calls. I was sitting up in a hotel room in Houston while he was at a football game, but we couldn’t reach him. I did have some great shopping in Houston… I was at a denim store and I told the lady there "I need something in a skinny leg, dark denim, no cuts/patches/or overly busy washes" and she brought me everything I asked her NOT to bring. I left after an hour (with just a shirt) and walked across the street to find exactly what I asked her for… brand new… for just 30 bucks (everything at her store was between 80 and 230 bucks). Score! I also found a great blue corduroy jacket- knee length trench coat cut, with a hood. I love it… also just 30 bucks! The guy at the cash register was kinda flirty, and he gave me a necklace with a cute jellyfish charm on it for being cute. Woooo!

So yeah… Houston. I love PARTS of the city, but don’t care for other parts. Like, the night clubs are okay. The restaurants are amazing. The city smells like dead things. The architecture is awesome. But some of it is falling apart before your eyes. Still, it was fun this time around.

While we were in the Houston Galleria we stopped in at the Bvlgari store and had a ring appraised. I bought this ring a handful of years ago; I found it in a vintage shop and knew that I had to have it. I asked the woman how much it was, and she said, succintly "eight." I thought she meant eight hundred dollars, and because I knew it was worth more than that I told her I wanted it. I moved money from the savings into the checking account and went to pay for it plus some shirts… and the total came to like 12.50. She meant eight single dollars. I’ve been telling that story for years, and people hate me for it! So, we had the appraise it and it’s worth 1480.00. The only thing that I don’t love about the ring is that it’s a half size too small for me to wear comfortably. Rich wears it all the time, I wish I could wear it more often!

This Saturday I’m taking part in an avant garde makeup competition, and I’m being sponsored by Urban Decay cosmetics. Should be fun… I wonder how I’ll do?

Teacher training starts in a week, I can’t wait to have my own little group of students to work with!

are you going to get an iphone 4?

Picture of the ring maybe? That is exactly why Mich insists we keep a land-line in the house… My phone is a PITA too… and I don’t even have an expensive iphone!

Have you taught yoga to kids — young kids?
