Holmes Novel Submitted
Rendezvous at the Populaire has been submitted to a publisher of Holmes stuff. They publish other stuff, too, but they look for Holmes stuff. I went to the website yesterday and gave an overview of the novel, and some basic information of mine, and the guy wrote back today saying that he wants to see the entire novel and he looks forward to reviewing mine!
Today was all in all a good day. My toe’s been bugging me. After I cut the nail, probably a bit over a week ago, maybe two, this piece of skin formed into something like a blood blister and was pretty much laying on the nail. It’s pretty painful. I tried doing something about it myself, but it wasn’t getting any better. And when I noticed Wednesday that my foot was swelling as well, I knew I had to go to the doctor. So, an appointment was made for today at 10:30 and the when I saw her, she said it was definitely infected. So, she cleaned it and put a gauze bandage kind of thing around it. Then she gave me a prescription for antibiotics that I’m picking up tomorrow.
I went home really quick after that to pick up a couple things and then head over to Drew’s. I told him about my toe and he at first thought I was going home just to rest and put my foot up. But I said no, I’d still come by if he wanted me to, and asked if he still wanted me to. Normally, his answer would be, "If you want too," but today, he actually answered "Yes."
So, I get over there, and he tells me his ex was dropping off the kids around two-thirty because she supposedly had a job intereview at three. Once the girls got there, Drew’s mom got ready and then we piled into the car because his mom was treating us all to a late lunch-early dinner kinda thing. We went to Perkins and had a good meal there. When we came out and went to get in the car again, Alanna and Joy were both on one side of the car and Alanna got in, so I said to Joy we should go around to the other side and she could get in there. She actually took my hand and we walked around to the other side. (She’s the shier of the two, so I was happy that she seems to be warming up to me.)
When we got back, Drew was helping Alanna with two of her homework sheets, (did they give homework in kindergarten when I was her age?) and then his ex called and said she got into a car accident, so I had to drive again to drop them off. I didn’t mind, though.
Oh, yeah, before we left the restaurant, we were waiting in the lobby kind of area for Drew’s mom to pay, and I saw one of those sticker machines, so I asked both girls if they wanted a sticker, and they pointed to the row they wanted, and I got them each a sticker.
Yeah, his ex is okay, she wasn’t hurt, but her car’s out of commission for at least two weeks, if not a bit longer.
I’m glad that we got to spend some time with his kids. I’m most glad that they seem to like me. I think they’ve caught onto the fact that around me, their dad is a lot happier.
