13 Reasons – The Second Chain

As Long As You Love Me
By: The Backstreet Boys

Although loneliness has always been a friend of mine
I’m leaving my life in your hands
People say I’m crazy and that I am blind
Risking it all in a glance
How you got me blind is still a mystery
I can’t get you out of my head
Don’t care what is written in your history
As long as you’re here with me

Chorus
I dont care who you are
Where you’re from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you’re from
Don’t care what you did
As long as you love me

Every little thing that you have said and done
Feels like it’s deep within me
Doesn’t really matter if you’re on the run
It seems like we’re meant to be

Chorus
I dont care who you are
Where you’re from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you’re from
Don’t care what you did
As long as you love me

Bridge
I’ve tried to hide it so that no one knows
But I guess it shows
When you look into my eyes
What you did and where you’re coming from
I don’t care, as long as you love me, baby.

Chorus
I dont care who you are
Where you’re from
What you did
As long as you love me
Who you are
Where you’re from
Don’t care what you did
As long as you love me

Throughout the course of my sophomore year, I sat with Shannon and Kathy, as I said in the 13 Reason Beatles entry.  More and more, though, I fopund myself becoming a friend of Shannon’s, rather than Kathy’s.  Shannon and I would sometimes hang out after school, and I don’t remember how, but she started getting really into the Monkees, the lesser Beatle-counter band of the sixties.  (Actually, the only reason the Monkees were created at all was because the Beatles didn’t have time for a live TV show, so TV producers decided to put together this Beatle-like band and give them a TV show.  Hence, how the Monkees came to be.)

(P.S.- This was one of my two favorite songs sophomore year.  At the end of this entry is the second favorite.  I’ll explain later why it was very ironic that I loved these two songs.)

I had a Halloween Party my sophomore year that Shannon, Kathy, Ryan, Andrew (his younger brother who turned out to be one of the guys I saw him hanging out with at VBS,) Shannon’s sort-of boyfriend Pat, Dolly, Diana, and Sue came to that one.  This guy named Chuck I’d met at Raritan was supposed to come, but for whatever reason, he didn’t.

I also hung out with Shannon, Kathy, and Pat at my family’s Christmas party that year.

Those were fun times.

As my sophomore year came to an end, though, I realized I was hanging out with Shannon a lot more than Kathy.  Couldn’t say I was unhappy about the fact.  Frankly, the more I saw of Kathy, the more she seemed really bitchy to me.  Besides, she’d found other people on the opposite side of the lunchroom that she wanted to sit with so for awhile, I barely saw her.  Lunch was, after all, the only time our schedules coincided since she and Shannon were freshman.

I hung out with Shannon and her sister during the summer before junior year.  I had my Sweet Sixteen where I finally got to have a roller rink party, (even though I didn’t get to fly around the rink holding Ryan’s hand.  He can’t skate, which is a complete mystery to me, but in any case, he opted to be picked up after we left the rink.)

And I should go back a bit and explain the mini-chain with Chuck, too.  Chuck was someone I met my sophomore year, apparently as early as October.  He and I met in gym class, because I think neither one of us had brought clothes to change into that day.  So I was sitting on the sidelines with my sketchbook, drawing.  And he came up to me.  Turns out he was a Beatles fan, too.  And he had drawings he’d done of the Beatles!  So, yeah, he and I were fast friends.

He was the one to introduce me to Jason.  And I will give an overview of that whole thing, but for any of you who know even parts of the story . . .  Yeah.  This is also where things in my life get interesting.

Once again, the initial person I met seemed to fade into the background.  I’d still talk to Chuck, of course, heck I was talking about him so much to Dolly that she got interested in him.  Same with him.  I’d mention her so much, he started to like her.

But Jason and I started talking probably in January.  I thought he was the greatest guy.  And we’d talk on the phone for literally hours.  Lol, I still have the video where he was in Ensemble Night and sang Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John.  I was videotaping it and you can tell, every time he glances at the camera, he starts to smile.  You can tell he wants to crack up, but he keeps his composure.  He just looks away from the videocamera.

I also invited him to come to Youth Group with me.  And I remember, one bit of Beatles memorabilia that I collected was a John Lennon hat.  (Not actually Beatles memorabilia, but it looks enough like John’s hat from Hard Day’s Night that I still call it my John  hat.)  Anyway, I would wear that thing all the time back then, and the first time Jason was gonna come with me to Youth Group, it was March and it was snowing.  He came over around one so we could hang out and we ended up outside having a snowball fight.  He was determined to knock my poor John hat off my head.  He never managed it.

Well, it wasn’t until the beginning of my junior year that things got "interesting with him."  Because in May of my sophomore year, I was talking to him on the phone and something clicked in my head.  I realized that he had a crush on Dolly.  He finally admitted it to me during the course of that conversation, and I went about talking to Dolly about Jason and helping the two of them get set up.  They met, they fell for one another, and for the first summer, (but unfortunately not last,) I was left to feel like a third wheel in my own house.

I’ll cover the rest of the summer later, though, because it leads into my junior year where the ball really gets ro

lling.

Whoops, just left you a note on your 1/17 entry because that’s the latest one that came up when I searched for your diary name. I’m sort of confused as to why.

I’ve been reading. I’m interested to see where this goes. Neat graphic you found.
