Haven’t Written In Awhile . . .

That about sums it up.  I’ve been working like crazy.  Six days last week, and it probably would have been seven, had I not said I couldn’t go in on Tuesday.  The Sunday before this last one, Matt said he was feeling sick to his stomach and everything, so he left early, asking if I could close.  I’ve never closed alone before, but still, I did it.  Everything was good, and I was fine.  Plus, as I was leaving, I was listening to a program that 95.5 does on Sunday nights, and I called in and got on the radio!  But I’ll talk about that later.

Then, I was supposed to work four to close on Monday, but Matt called at ten to three saying that he felt this pressure in his head and was feeling really dizzy, so he asked if I could open for him.  I said no problem, and it shouldn’t have been.  I mean, come on, it was a Monday.  But from the minute I got there, the phones were ringing.  Well, I expected the driver to get there at four, but idiot that this guy has proven to be, he thought he was supposed to be there at four thirty.  (More about him is to come.)  Anyway, I ended up having to call someone else to come in for a couple hours, orders were late going out, the guy who’d come in late barely knew which way was up, all in all, I felt like a chicken with my head cut off for most of the day.

But again, things went fine with closing, the money was dead on, I deposited it fine, and I had the next day off.

Well, Jane called me on Tuesday to ask if there was anyway I could come in because they didn’t have anyone else to be at that store.  I said I was sorry, but I really couldn’t, and I still had that day off, thank God.

Wednesday, again, it was an open to close day, but I figured it would be, since Matt had been scheduled to have off, and I hadn’t heard anything from him or Scott, (the District Manager of the southern NJ stores,) telling me anything different.  Well, I think around nine or so, Scott calls me and tells me that he doesn’t know what’s going on with Matt, but he’s gonna call him and find out, and that I should go in the next day to the Ocean Domino’s and open.  (Scott had called on Sunday night saying that Matt wasn’t supposed to have Wednesday and Thursday off the way the schedule said, and that Matt was going to be in on Thursday and I would be in the Eatontown store, working inside ith Scott.)  Anyway, he said that he’d find out what was going on with Matt and call me back.  Did I hear from him the rest of the night?  No . . .

I go in on Thursday, I got there a bit late, actually, and I’m setting things up when I see someone walking up to the store.  I took a closer look and realize it’s Matt.  When he walked in, the first thing I said was, "Oh, my God, you’re alive!"

Since he was there, I only worked till the rush.  Then Friday, I was four to the rush, Saturday I opened and worked till rush, and Sunday . . . I don’t remember what I did on Sunday . . .  I think I was in till rush, because before I left, I asked Matt how we were gonna do things concerning the bank deposit.  Matt holds the deposit key we need to make the drop at the end of the night and I needed it for Monday, but since he had off and he lives further from the store than I do, I couldn’t expect him to drive all the way out to the store and give me the key on his day off.  So he said to just put it in the safe.  It seemed reasonable, so I agreed.

Monday, we have two drivers.  The idiot who didn’t know what time he was scheduled for, and this other idiot who doesn;t know how to read a map.  I swear, I’m getting so sick of that guy.  EVERY order, it’s either, "Do I have to take that one?  I don’t know where it is," or, "So how do I get to this place?"

Now admittedly, it’s not perfect, but we have a very up to date computer system where when you push the address and then push the "Map" button, 9 times out of 10, the map will come up with a little square designating Domino’s, and a little house to designate where the house is.  And all you have to do is look at the map to tell where you have to turn and onto what streets.  Everything is labeled, you can zoom in and zoom out, and for people who need to visual aid, there’s even a print button to print out the maps!  Now, seriously, with something like that at your disposal, why is some idiot constantly saying, "How do I get here?"  "I don’t know where that is."  That’s what being a delivery driver IS.  Finding these places, even if you have no clue where they are!

So, anyway, the first moron comes in and says, even though he’s scheduled to, he can’t close.  Turns out he borrowed a friend’s car and the friend "needs it back by ten."

I don’t feel like typing out the rest of it.  It annoys me too much.  Someone remind me and I’ll give the rest of the account of that night later.  Long story short, that guy proved he doesn’t have the reliability or responsibility required to be a closer.  He claimed he wanted as many hours as Matt could wrack him up with, but seriously, I think he’s just looking for easy money and doesn’t want to do the work required of him.

I had off Tuesday and to be honest, Monday and yesterday both, I was having something of an emotional breakdown.  I’m good now, though.  Ryan and I had a nice long conversation and it really helped bring me back to sanity.  I just couldn’t deal with the thought of going in today, though.  Bleh . . .  So I did end up calling out, and Matt seemed cool about it.  But then I guess he talked to Scott, who’s not happy about it, because today was supposedly and "mandatory day."  (Mandatory days would mean that all drivers are scheduled to be at the store for some length of time, though.  You know how many were scheduled for today?  Two or three.  Yeah.  HUGE mandtory day . . .)  Plus, he’s not happy about what happened on Monday night.  I admit, I don’t blame him for that one.  I’M not happy about Monday night.  To be honest, I doubt it’ll turn out this way, but I honestly feel that guy should be fired.  But then, I admit, I’m probably just feeling a bit too spiteful towards him.

Anyway, also this morning, Rob got called on his cell by his mom.  I’m not exactly sure when they discovered this . . .  Actually, I’m not sure if I even mentioned this.  Did I write about Rob’s dad going into the hospital?  Well, several weeks ago, he did.  He had tests done and all and had something done concerning blood transfusions and there was mention of an oncologist.  (Surprise, surprise, the one who’s smoked and drank in  excess for God only knows how many years might hav e cancer.  Everyone who’s shocked, raise your hand.)

Everyone who is shocked can let their jaws drop now.  Because Rob got a call today from his mom, saying that his dad does, in fact, have leukemia.  I guess he’s gonna start chemotherapy on Monday.

Okay, I’m gonna go.  I gotta do some stuff around here.  But I thought I’d update, even though some of it’s morbid stuff.  Bye!  <img alt="" src="http://www.op
