Cinnamon And Nutmeg

Yesterday, Melanie and I hung out at the Woodbridge Mall and I admit, I spoiled myself.  I got two DVD’s, an InuYasha sachel thing, Red River number seven and the next two Cheeky Angels, (mangas,) a Full Metal Alchemist figure of Ed, and we ate at Friendly’s.  Lol.  I got those loaded fries and ended up bringing about half of them back with me.  It was good just hanging out and talking with her, though.  She told me about stuff going on with her, other things she’s dealing with/problems she’s hearing about, showed me some pictures of the kids from her camp, and I shared some memories of Nana.  It was good to be able to describe to her and actually be understood what I was talking about.  I was telling her about Dolly calling, (and she says she read your entries, Dolly, and about you saying that people up here better be taking care of me.  Apparently, you’re more threatening than you thought!  Lol.) and how talking to Dolly was probably the best thing for me then.  And I said that though I didn’t doubt that others knew the same sort of pain I was feeling, Dolly was the one who understood that it was Nana.  You know?  Other people can definitely understand the pain of losing someone, but Dolly understands the pain of losing Nana.  And Melanie understood that.  It was a relief just to now someone did.

Anyway, we came back from the mall and went to Office Max, since an earlier stop to Staples hadn’t had what she needed for her printer.  She went in there and I went in PetSmart.  There, I saw that the small animals, gerbils, rats, guinea pigs, had come back.  (They’d had to return their entire supply of small animals because of some kind of problem on the supplier’s end.)  Anyway, they had female rats there, so I asked if I could see them, since I’d also spied the perfect cage for a rat.  It’s a wire one, with three levels for climbing and all that.  So, I picked out an orange-ish colored one, and one that has a very light orange-ish head and the rest is white.  I paid for them and said I would be back before six to pick them up.

So after I dropped Melanie off at home, I circled back around to PetSmart and picked up the pair and their cage and food and water bottle and wooden chew toys.  I brought them and all my mall stuff home.  Needless to say, my parents weren’t too thrilled, but they accept the two.  Heck, my mom was making jokes that my rats and Shannon’s, (which are males,) should breed and make cat food.  Needless to say, um, NO!!!!!

I asked Mike to give Shannon a call and tell her she should come over for awhile.  She finally got back to us and came over.  We played with the rats for a bit, but discovered that the solid color one, (which is now named Cinnamon,) was squinting her right eye a lot.  I was a bit worried, especially when today, she was sneezing a lot in the car.  I brought her back over to PetSmart and asked about it.  They said she probably has a cold and to give her Vitamin C in their water and give her greens and whatnot.  Well, we didn’t really ahve any suitable greens, but we did have a banana.  So Mike cut up about half of one and we brought out the second rat, (who is now Nutmeg,) and they wandered around the table and Nutmeg started eating one of the pieces!  It was so cute, seeing her hold it in her little hands!

Anyway, I had to work at four, soaround three, we broughht them both up, with the pieces of banana, and put them back in their cage.  I also put some drops of the vitamin stuff into their water and it got topped off.  I’m gonna keep an eye on Cinnamon, but she should be okay.  If she’s not, I’m gonna ask the vet about it on Thursday, when I go to have Smiley’s nails done.

Okay, I’m done babbling.  So, yeah, I have new pets.  And they’re cute!  Pictures are forthcoming.
