I’m A Finalist!!!!!

Okay, must tell all about yesterday.  Well, this weekend, I was scheduled two to closing at the park and I was already planning on telling Tim that I was gonna quit after yesterday.  I told Domino’s that I could work Saturday’s and that I was hoping for a rise in hours.  Turns out, too, I’m scheduled for Saturday, so I need to confirm things with the Strawberry Festival quick!

Anyway, back on yesterday.  Saturday, I had called one of the manager’s (I guess that’s what you’d call her?) cell and left a voice mail saying I wouldn’t be in because of a fever.  Friday night, my skin was literally hot enough to hurt someone who touched it and I had a temperature.  When I woke up on Saturday, I didn’t feel much better.  Not to mention that I really had no way of getting there because on Friday I had to leave Domino’s early because my car tire was flat.  Like I said, I called out.

I figured there were no problems with it, because the one time I did call out a few weeks ago and no one had heard anything, (somehow, considering Mike went up to the ticket booth, asked the guy to walkie talkie Tim, and the guy did.  Yet still Tim claimed he was never told anything,) my house was called and I was asked where I was.

So, I woke up, tok a shower, and got ready and all that yesterday because I thoroughl felt better.  I went down there, had sunblock and a thin, meshy shirt in my bag in case I had to work outside.  Cuz there was no way in Hell I was gonna get sunburned.  Do any of you have any idea how painful being sunburned and then being next to an open oven is?  I wouldn’t be able to go near the back half of Domino’s!

I go there, though, and I go up to the ticket booth and the guy slides the walkie talkie to me.  I page Tim and he says I was supposed to work yesterday, where was I, I’d never shown up.  I said that I’d left the voice mail on the other person’s cell and that I’d had a fever.  He asks where I am and I said by the ticket booth near the Game Room.  He tells me to wait for him there.

Soon, I see him and the other person whose cell I had called coming towards me.  I started walking toward them and so did this other girl.  He tells the other girl where to go and once she’s gone, tells me that there are a couple of problems.  The first was when I called out last week because of my eyes.  (One day I called out, one day I went home early, and the last day, I actually had to stay there almost an hour and a half after I should have been able to leave.)  Anyway, the day that I had called out, Mike went to hang out with Colleen, Bryan, Shannon, Denny, and Qui.  That night, I called him for some reason, and he mentioned to me they were all gonna go to a karaoke bar and said I should come.  I wasn’t sure I wanted to, what with my eyes in the condition they were.  (I probably shouldn’t have driven anywhere, let alone to a smoke-filled bar.)

Against my better judgment, though, I went.  And Tim saw me there.  That was the first thing he mentioned.  That I’d called out and then he saw me with friends that night.  Then he says how that girl’s cell is not the place to call if someone needs to call out.  He claimed he told me there was some "extension 15" to leave messages like that on.  Which I’ve never heard about, by the way.  Anway, he said that he didn’t figure I’d show up today and he’d taken me off the schedule.

I just nodded, said I was sorry, and left.  I admit, on the way back, I did cry.  I got myself under control when I got back to the house.  I went in, told Mom that "they hadn’t gotten the message yesterday and had taken me off the schedule today."  I told her it was kind of a mutual firing/quit thing.  I went upstairs, went in the bathroom and started crying again.  Though softly.  After I soaked my face with cool water, (man, it felt good, considering how hot it’s been the past two days!), I went into my room and read Immortal Rain.  Yeah, that probably wasn’t the best thing I could have read.  It made me cry a bit more.  When I was done, though, I wanted to see if they had number six anywhere.  So I asked Mike if he minded coming to the Woodbridge Mall with me.  I figured we could go to Waldenbooks, or something.

We put some gas in my parents’ car and took it.  Went to Hot Topic, Waldenbooks, KB Toys, and back to Hot Topic.  I did get Red River number 6. (Dolly, you’ve gotta read that one!  Egypt, a handsome prince, a wicked queen, a Prince of Darkness!  Come on!  Go out and get them when you can!)  I also got an InuYasha plushie with tetsusaiga, and Sango.  And there’s a keychain of Koga, Sessho-maru, and another InuYasha one that I wanna pick up eventually.

So, yeah.  I owe Mike a bit more money.  But it’s okay.  I’m gonna finish paying him back this week and then quit borrowing money from him.  We both need to save, and I’m in enough debt with my parents as it is.

Well, we came back, after getting Chinese and ice-ies, played Magic a bit, and that night around nine, I got a phone call from Melanie.  She asked what I was doing and I said watchng Family Guy.  She commented on the excitement of my life, lol.  Then said it was bettr than most of our IM conversations.  I agreed, saying those usually consisted of us saying how boring we are, as well as "lol."  So she wanted to know if I wanted to come out with her and a friend and I suggested going to the karaoke bar in Keansburg, since Colleen had called earlier saying that they were going and did Mike and I want to come.  I figured we could meet up with them there.

They picked me up, cuz Melanie knows about my poor car.  I’d grabbed my karaoke Wicked CD first, though, cuz I figured if we got there before ten, I could put in my contest song, ie–Popular.  We got there in time and I immediately went up and got a contest slip, wrote my song, and turned it in.  I went up there to sing it about five, maybe ten, minutes after getting there.  So I came, I sang, I sat back at our table.  The other people weren’t *that* bad.  In fact, the one who did the Shoop Shoop song and the Titanic song was really good.  She was a bit off on the highest notes of My Heart Will Go On, but other than that, it was really good.  Then these two guys, the Titanic song girl, and two other women got up there.  They were standing onopposite sides of the stage and I said to Melanie wouldn;t it be cool if they were gonna do Paradise by the Dashboard Light.  Well, two seconds after those words left my mouth, the music started, and guess what I hear?  The intro to Paradise!  Except, they sucked.  The Titantic girl, the only one who actually knew what she was doing with the girl’s part, got fed up about two thrids of the way through and left the stage.

The best part of the night for me, though, came before all that.  It came at eleven, when they announced who the finalist for the karaoke contest was.  ME!!!  I’m a finalist!  I won fifty dollars and I get to

compete against the other nine on August seventh for the $250 dollar grand prize.  I can’t wait.  I already know what song I’m singing.

We left the bar when they were clsoing at around midnight.  I said I should probably go home cuz I wasn;t sure I worked today, (I don’t.  I’m on Tuesday through Saturday,) not to mention that the friend of Melanie’s we were in the carwith smokes, and that’s a definite irritant for my eyes.  (It’s against my better judgment that I go to that bar in the first place.)  Anyway, they dropped me off at home and today I’m waiting until about five thirty-ish and then calling Ryan.  I’m gonna see if we can hang out to practice and if so, if he can pick me up.

So yeah.  I quit/got fired from Keansburg, but won fifty bucks and have a shot at even more money, and my hours are upping at Domino’s.  My life’s pretty good.
