Some Magic’s Real . . .

Kids have a lot of fears when they’re young. One of the main ones that I can think of is fear of the dark. I’m still wary of the dark to this day, and I’m twenty-one. But it’s more because I have an overactive imagination than I’m actually afraid of the blackness. I love walking around outside at night.

Yet, why is there a differentiation? Darkness is darkness, no matter where you are. But then again, there’s the matter of confinement. In my house, there are walls. Outside, there aren’t. There’s a sense of freedom, I guess.

Elrond: “Bring forth the Ring, Frodo.”

Boromir: “Tis a gift. A gift to the foes of Mordor. Why not use this ring? Long has my father, the steward of Gondor, kept the forces of Mordor at bay. By the blood of our people, are you lands kept safe. Give Gondor the weapon of the enemy. Let us us it against him!”

Aragorn: “You cannot weild it. None of us can. The One Ring answers to Sauron alone. It has no other master.”

Boromir: “And what would a ranger know of this matter?”

Legolas: “This is no mere ranger. He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance.”

Boromir: “Aragorn? This . . . is Isildur’s heir?”

Legolas: “And heir to the throne of Gondor.”

Aragorn:”Havodad, Legolas.” (Sit down, Legolas.)

Boromir: “Gondor has no king. Gondor needs no king.”

Gandalf: “Aragorn is right. We cannot use it.”

Elrond: “You have only one choice. The Ring must be destroyed.”

Gimli: “Then what are we waiting for?”

Elrond: “The ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Gloin, by any craft that we here possess. It was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. One of you must do this.”

Boromir: “One does not simply walk into Mordor. It’s black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the great eye is ever-watchful. Tis a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, and ash, and dust. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly.”

Legolas: “Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond just said? The ring must be destroyed!”

Gimli: “And I suppose you think you’re the one to do it!”

Boromir: “And if we fail, what then? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his?”

Gimli: “I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of an elf!”

Argh. I got booted before I could finish this entry. I’m lucky I’d saved this much first. I was looking forward to today just being nice and peaceful. I woke up, thanks to my bird poking her beak up under my nose. She’s just the cutest little thing. Anyway, though, Mike was at work, my mom was at work, and my dad was out in his room, so I had the main portion of the house to myself. I figured, hey, I’ll watch a movie. So, I popped in Singin’ in the Rain, just because I haven’t seen it in so long. Well, I’m not even twenty minutes into the movie when guess who shows up at the house? Dan. ::Sarcasm:: Oh, joy . . . Well, I’ll give him this. He has the most subtle, friendly way to tell someone, “No, I don’t want you involved.” There is an interesting thing today, though. See, he got Mike into this music thing where Mike’s in the percussion section, and the rehearsals are on Tuesdays. They usually leave in time to get to the rehearsals that are, to my knowledge, at three. Yet, Dan says he has a job at three. So, why is he here? ::Shrugs:: I don’t know.
