I believe the world began out of love, and out of hate.  If you want to take theological view, by all means, incorporate love with God, and hate with the Devil, Satan, whatever you want to call him.  I believe that God did create the world, and He tried to do it with the world being filled with love.  But something got in the way.  The natural antagonist to the protagonist, if you will.  Satan decided that love had to have a natural counterpart, so hate was created and also let loose to run rampant in the world.

Geologically, you can also go by the big bang theory.  That something in the universe just sparked awake at the right time, and poof! there was a world that slowly, over time, developed into the world we know, and generally love today.

I guess, in truth, I don’t really have any idea how the world came into being.  I think it’s up there with the question, “What’s the meaning of life?”  Everyone can find their own answer, but we won’t know the true one until after we die, if there is an afterlife.  This was an excellent question.  Very thought-provoking.
