sort of overexposed,
my discontent is a kite
bold and bright
with the wind whipping
the delicate strings holding it in place
up there in the sky
like it’s stuck and i’m pulling
to jar it loose
to force it free

an overindulgent little fantasy
across the mountains,
against the backdrop of a different sea
