I can’t think of a title right off the bat. I wasn’t around much yesterday, so didn’t get an entry written. I had to go install OS 10.4 on Annie’s computer, because I didn’t feel like trying to tell her over the phone how to do it, it was easier just to do it myself. I DID get lunch out of the deal, lol.. we went to Mountain Mike’s pizza for their lunch special of all you can eat salad and pizza. It was good, but Shabree had herself a little pout fest. She had a bunch of those yesterday, off and on. I think she’s getting really spoiled or something, I don’t know for sure, but man, if she doesn’t get what she wants, she acts TERRIBLE, so yes, that sounds like spoiled to me. Sigh. I’m going to have to work on that. I can’t STAND spoiled kids…to me, there’s little else in the world that’s worse. My kids are very fortunate. We have enough money to live a very nice life, go to Disneyland whenever we want, time and health permitting, we can buy just about anything we desire, though I’m not in a BIG habit of going shopping, but I don’t stress over money. So if the kids want something, generally we can figure out a way to get it for them. But it’s interesting that it often backfires on a parent. As much as we talk about not wasting, not leaving bikes out to get stolen, this and that and the other thing, Bec has had at least one bike stolen, if not two. She doesn’t WANT her current bike, which was a garage sale find for 8 dollars, so she leaves it out. We’ve told her, if it gets stolen, she’s NOT getting another bike. That’ll be hard for me… if I saw another bike at a garage sale, I’d probably buy it for her, and one of the stolen bikes was a freebie from one of our houses, and she was QUICK to point out that fact, so of COURSE it shouldn’t matter that it was stolen. But of course, we pointed out that it DOES matter, and it was HER carelessness that got it stolen in the first place, and if not for that, she’d have a decent bike she could use.
I was almost exactly the same way as a kid though, so I have to wonder if it matters… we’ll keep harping on it… I do have to say though, my mom was a single mom, and if I’d let my bike get stolen, I doubt she’d have bought me another one, maybe she could afford it, maybe she couldn’t, we never went without by any stretch, but I’m pretty sure that’s just because my mother was careful with her money, and she made a decent living as a college teacher. I was pretty careful with my bike, as it was my only transportation for a number of years, other than the bus. But I was also older by this time, and perhaps getting a little more responsible. Anyway, we’re doing our best. I don’t give the kids EVERYTHING they want, by any stretch… especially NOT when they ask, and especially not if they have a fit about it.
Okay, enough of that. I’m going to get notes about this one, and I swear, we are good parents, who try to instill good values in our kids. I hate seeing things go to waste, that was a BIGGIE my grandparents taught me… and I know I do my share of wasting, in this day and age, I think that’s fairly normal, but I do try… and I teach the kids to try as well… Shabree’s the hardest, because she eats quite a bit, but she also will waste quite a bit, and I tell her not to waste, but I don’t think that lesson’s sinking in very well, and I’m not quite ready to really be forcing it down her throat at the age of 3.
Okay, what else? Nothing, really. I’m trying to get some rest today… had a sore throat last night, woke up with it this morning, took some vitamin C last night and this morning, trying to fight it, seems to be working.
My mom called while I was writing this entry. My brother and his wife just had their baby…a girl, they named her Andrea. Short A, since in Spanish, they only recognize one pronounciiation for the letter A. She was born by emergency C section on March 13th, my brother’s birthday, very cool for him. Our children will be just about the same age, I’m 6 months behind them, lol. I didn’t even know they were having a baby til a couple of weeks ago, unless I managed to somehow forget… hope not.
Then I went downstairs to find Shabree with dish soap in her hair and all over her hands and a bucket. I’d already started the shower, so I guided her in there, then jumped in, got the soap out of her hair, washed her down, rewashed her hair with shampoo, and now she’s just playing, enjoying the shower.
I guess I’ll end here. Not much else to say.
I am going to send you an email. I set up a readers password for you to view my last entry.
