Putonghua

You know what? All of Ayako’s friends know she hates Putonghua so much and she never wants to learn this language. But things will change one day, just like the sun will rise from the west and miracle will happen only if you believe.

Last night when I had dinner with my good friend from IEd, she told me that she did invite me to study Putonghua together with her but was refused by me.  At the end, she went to learn by herself and finally became a Putonghua teacher successfully. Oh really? Did she ever invite me before? I didn’t have any impression for that, I totally lost my memory. Maybe it was because I hate Putonhgua so much and I tend to forget everything about it. If my friend didn’t tell me last night, I never know the truth.

Anyway, here I am and I would like to say I’ve changed after all these years, from a girl who hates Putonghua to a girl who goes to study Putonghua. It is unbelievable but it’s true. Human will change.

Before I really hate Putonghua, I don’t like this language, I think it is just a language for the poor mainlanders and I never want to learn it. At that time, all of my friends from IED were learning Putonghua except me.  I never thought it was a loss for me and I was learning my favourite language Japanese instead.

But after so many years, I was hit by another chance three months ago. One of my colleagues invited me to join a Putonghua course (just like before), she said it was the social needs and we can’t avoid learning it. Oh, I think she is right, I think I should try this time. I decided to learn it, to try to know more the language I have been hating since birth.

The story continues. Now I have finished the first course over the past three months, and start the second course. After I know more about this language, I figure out Putonghua is not as bad as I think. It is interesting in some ways. I decide to learn it, maybe just for enchaning knowlege which is not a bad thing right? I dare not think about the teacher exam thing, just want to study as good as I can at this moment. I hope it is not too late. 🙂

I hate Putonghua too… But my roommate is Chinese so I need to talk with Putonghua.

Putonghua is not so difficult at all. Try your best.

Work hard! Cindy
