Done

It’s finally Wednesday here. Last night I went to sleep at about ten thirty as usual but I woke up at around 5 and could not sleep in anymore. I was having a strange dream and when I woke up, my mind brought me to the observation thing. I couldn’t help but thinking about it until my alarm clock rang.

Knowing today is the announcement day, I back to school fifteen minutes early than usual. As soon as I arrived at the staff room, I heard a voice telling me "Miss Yuen, you are bingo." Oh really, my God! I quickly went to see the list. I thought my student was picked up but he WASN’T. I was chosen to be seen for one lesson instead of two, which I thought was a good news for me. Thanks God. Thanks God that I was seen for one lesson (although it was not my P2 class which is my first choice) and thanks God that I was seen today instead of tomorrow (the observation will last for two days). My pressure will go right after the observation and I will be very happy tomorrow.

The observation took place in my third lesson. I waited for the guest before starting the lessons and everyone was unusually quiet. At the beginning of the lesson, I brought some real objects to show the class about buying things such as a water bottle, a dictionary, stickers, socks and so on. The students seemed to be very interested.  After that, I introduced the pair work by showing two very big posters on the blackboard but I was too stupid to put the prices in a wrong order (I was tensed) so that I could not do the demonstration very well.  Knowing I was wrong, I quickly finished the demonstration and let my students do the pair work on their own.

While they were having pair work, I walked along listening to their conversation. I was a little bit surprised that the students finished their work very early, leaving about ten minutes for presentation. Then I invited three groups to come out to present the same thing (just to fill in the time). And for the last couple of minutes, I assigned the homework for the class and that was all my lesson.

Honestly, I thought I didn’t do a good job in this lesson.  I could have done better, to have better arrangements and more activities to keep them busy. Maybe I should do show and tell (which I have prepared also for the second observed lesson in case she comes) rather than pair work. Anyway, the observation is gone and there is no need to think about it anymore.

Today is the first observation day and only fifteen teachers had finished the observation. The rest of the teachers will be very likely to be seen tomorrow. I hope everyone can do their job and we will pray for each other.
