Let’s try normal….

I’ve written so many whiny entries lately, that I almost can’t stand myself, so let’s go for a somewhat normal one.

Yesterday was my father in law’s 90 birthday, so I cooked dinner for he and my sister in law. She had asked me earlier in the week what we wanted to do for him, and rather than take him out, I said I would cook. I knew he would enjoy it more. So, on Thursday night, I made homemade meatballs with both ground beef and Italian sausage that I had picked up in Krebs, our little Italian village about an hour east of here.  On Friday, I made homemade sauce, with red wine, San Marzano tomatoes and fresh basil. Even I think it was really, really good. I also made a spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, and garlic bread.  Since my daughter in law is not around…he got a cake I bought at a bakery.  It was actually really good, though. It was small, and I sent over half of it home with them, but they are leaving on vacation on Tuesday, so they wouldn’t take the whole thing, so I have a big hunk of chocolate truffle cake staring me in the face every time I walk in the kitchen! Not good….but so far, I’ve only had a very small piece…so, so far, so good!

Today I was lazy. I cleaned my kitchen really well, and washed and dried my hair and even used the straightener on it, but otherwise, I have been lazy. I watched all the cooking shows on TV, I downloaded a book to my Kindle (James Patterson’s 8th Confession) and have by and large been lazy today.  It felt good and I was okay.

Tomorrow is church and I have to be their early…as somehow, I managed to sign up to be Elder of the Month in June (I did this back in January), which means I have to unlock the church and all the SS rooms and take the cover off the piano…and as it is a grand…and the cover weighs a ton, that is no small feat! Adjust the A/C in all the rooms and sanctuary and place the flowers, set up the candles for the accolytes to light and probably a half dozen other things I’m forgetting until I get there and see…Then we have our monthly Session meeting tomorrow after church, and I will then reverse the whole process…

And then tomorrow night, I will anxiously await the new episode of the new season of Trueblood!  I’m thinking of trying to put together a "watch" party on short notice…we shall see….

We have had some hellacious storms come through here the past few days. One a couple of days ago, knocked out at least one of our ATT cell towers. My friends that live a bit out of town had no service at all for a couple of days and all of us had dropped calls like crazy and I had the pleasure of explaining to everyone why all of my calls were going to voicemail, even when it was sitting right next to me on the couch.  It never rang…

And tonight we had another one that came through and popped and banged…but no hail, thank you very much. But it was loud enough to send the dog upstairs under the computer table…which is now his favorite spot since he is too fat to get under my bed anymore!! LOL. And it sounds like the wind is picking up and another one may be winding up to head through here, so I’m going to save this and get on up to bed!

Have a good night, y’all….

Ahhhh, summer storms. It’s the season for them here, too. Lightning capital of the world, FL… Eeww. But whatever. Your dinner menu made my mouth water! Sounds scrumptous. Loves to you! ~M

…somewhat normal is good. 🙂 Summer in NC is my LEAST favorite season and it’s not just the heat and humidity. I hate the storms…hate hate hate…and more so because I am alone now. I guess I just need to get used to them…if that’s possible.

I’ve had two other people recommend True Blood to me. Is it on the networks? I’ll have to check it out.

Ok just saw that it’s on HBO, which I cancelled a few months ago in my personal round of budget cuts. I’ll have to wait to see it on DVD!

Being lazy and doing what you need to do in your own time is the absolute best!

ryn: I KNOW! I love Lafayette… I was so sad he didn’t play a more prominent roll in the series… I’m supposing you have read the books? I quite enjoy them.
